Rare original 1957 copy of a one-off record made by Maya Angelou before she became the famous writer we know her as today. In her brief days living in San Francisco she became a nightclub singer and took on the Calypso craze of the time by becoming Miss Calypso, star of the North Beach clubs like the Purple Onion. She was already showing her creative talents here, as several of the songs are her compositions. Really kind of a wonderful record, convincingly authentic, even. And some really intensely beautiful songs. Anyhow this is quite a rare treasure for the Angelou fan. This original copy was issued on Liberty Records LRP-3028, and is in very good condition. There are some marks and a bit of wear on the disc but it plays quite nicely with minimal background noise, mainly between songs. The cover is well cared for, with all its glossy shine, but with some edgewear, including JT a 4" seam split at the bottom. There is also some water staining on the back bottom edge, but not too bad. Overall this is a great original copy. Not perfect but still very enjoyable and beautifully presentable.
