Elton John released his fifth studio album "Honky Chateau" in 1972. It became the first of his seven consecutive No. 1 albums and was bolstered by iconic hits "Rocket Man" and "Honky Cat." It was also his last on the Uni Records label as later releases came out on MCA Records.
This copy (Uni 9135) is from a 1973 pressing and is in very good condition including the envelope tab. The embossed front cover and unusual gatefold sleeve have some minor ring wear and a couple of slightly bent corners but overall I rate this nearly 50-year-old album as VG+. Please see the pictures. The record test plays cleanly with just a bit of static and I rate it VG+ which is as high as I go on vintage vinyl. It was most likely pressed at the MCA Records plant in Pinckneyville, Illinois or Gloversville, NY, but this copy lacks a clear pressing plant stamp. The Side 1 dead wax is etched 93135-A-W3 2 1111.
In addition to its original packaging, this album will come with a high quality Anti-Static Round Bottom Sleeve to hold the vinyl disc and a sturdy 3 mil. polyethylene Archival Quality Outer Sleeve.
Free shipping is included in the special corrugated album mailer seen in the last picture.
This vintage 12" vinyl album has been sitting upright on a shelf in climate controlled storage for the past 48 years. It has not been played in decades other than a quick test spin for this sale which found no skips or obvious flaws. Like all used records it should be cleaned and wiped with an anti-static brush to minimize the occasional pops that are part of playing vinyl albums. Buyers should note that this is a well-cared for but used record and it will have some minor imperfections.
