OUR STORY:
This store was established in honor of John A. Foley, a man who dedicated his life and career to the nonprofit community in Palm Beach County. In more than two decades of practicing law, John Foley fought for the rights of people with AIDS/HIV, fought for victims of wage theft, and was a mentor to young attorneys. In 1997, John received the Legal Aid Society's Human Rights Advocacy Award for his work representing a person living with HIV who was wrongfully denied health insurance. He also helped establish the Nonprofit Legal Assistance Project, providing legal assistance to more than 60 nonprofits in Florida.
He was an avid music collector who taught himself to play the guitar and the keyboard. Some of his favorite artists were Elton John and Elvis Costello. In August 2019, John was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a cancer of the brain. Following his diagnosis, he had discussed using his music collection to raise money for medical research at St. Jude Children's Hospital. Unfortunately, his project, Records and Tapes for Hope, was delayed due to the pandemic. He valiantly fought his disease for 18 months before passing away at the age of 60 on February 17th, 2021.
This store has been the culmination of many loving friends and family. We're here to help bring his vision to life which was to turn his collection and his love for music into something positive to fight against cancer. All proceeds from the sales on this site will be donated to St Jude Children's Hospital.
Thank you for your shared love of music!
