For sale is a copy of Led Zeppelin’s second album, Led Zeppelin 2.

This is an original UK 1st Pressing from 1969 which features the sought-after orange & plum Atlantic labels.

The record has the fourth variation of the Atlantic labels in which the track titles are all correctly spelt.

Both the record and sleeve are in great condition and would be a super addition to any collection.

Please see below for further details.

Many vinyl records are mis-sold on eBay as ‘1st Pressing when in fact they are not. There are several details which identify this record as a true 1st pressing. They are:

·     Gatefold sleeve with matt finish. ·     Orange and Plum Atlantic labels on the vinyl. ·     ‘588198’ catalogue number. ·     Variation 4 labels with all track titles correctly spelt.* ·     Matrix numbers A//5 (side 1) and B//4 (side 2). ·     Publishers’ credits given to Warner Bros. & Jewel music.

*Earlier editions contained different misprints. Variation 1 gave track 6 (Livin’ Lovin’ Maid) as ‘Livin’ Lovin’ Wreck’. Variation 2 had track 3 (Killing Floor) as ‘TheLemon Song’. And Variation 3 had track 4 (Thank You) as ‘THANKYOU’. This is the  first variation with all tracks correctly spelt.

I try to take pictures which provide a fair representation of the condition of a record and the sleeve. If interested, please read below for a detailed discussion including an audio description.

I use the Goldmine standard as a reference for grading.

Vinyl: Very Good +

The vinyl looks great and plays even better.

The surface retains the original gloss sheen.

The labels are bright and clean and have minimal spindle wear.

There are subtle hairline scuffs which can be picked up in bright light but nothing deep that affects playback.

The audio is extremely clear with very little background crackle.

 The channel separation is superb.

Overall, it Is a pleasurable listening experience.

Sleeve: Very Good +

The sleeve is in great condition.

As it is not laminated it is prone to becoming very dirty(especially the white area on the front and back).

This copy is still remarkably clean with very little discolouration.

The corners, spine and edges do show subtle signs of storage wear but all are very respectable.

There are no rips, tears or writing present anywhere on the sleeve.

Inner Sleeve: Very Good

The inner sleeve is a non-original period exchange.

This was often done by the original owner who had their own personal choice of inner sleeve.

It is in serviceable condition and still able to hold a record.

It is slightly discoloured, however, and does have several creases.

Also included in the sale is an audiophile quality inner sleeve which provides the best possible protection for the record.

This is a superb copy of a superb album that has been enjoyed for 52 years and is ready to be enjoyed for 52 more.

The outer sleeve, vinyl, and inner sleeve are all housed within a premium quality polythene outer sleeve.

The record will be packaged within a padded vinyl record mailer and will be sent insured.
