ALIENS Original RARE 1986 Soundtrack Vinyl LP James Horner EXCELLENT WOW! Original cover sleeve is just like new, vinyl doesn't seem to have any superficial scratches just fingerprints when held up to the light and has JUST LIKE NEW PLAY! Purchased by seller in the 1980s and played a few times, kept in private collection in smoke-free home, every bit an outstanding find for any retro soundtrack collector! Please see photos. Very juicy collector's specimen indeed and hard to find.....
Following time restrictions and many other troubles, the score was recorded in only 4 days and later recut to fit the scenes of the movie, leaving several cues unused. Despite this, James Horner received an Academy Award nomination (his first) for Best Original Score.
The main title was inspired by the famous 'Gayane Ballet Suite (Adagio)', composed by Aram Khatchaturian and used in the movie '2001: A Space Odyssey' (the favourite movie of James Cameron). It was meant as a tribute to Stanley Kubrick. Another part of the theme is inspired by Jerry Goldsmith's music for 'Alien' (1979) by Ridley Scott.
