Grading:

Near Mint (NM): This is a record that has been played just a few times or was handled and played with great care. The jacket will also show few signs of being handled.

Excellent (Exc.): A record that has been played several times with proper care. There may be slight scuffs or very light hairline marks that do not impair the sound of the record.Jackets may have some ring/spine wear and discoloration. Inner sleeves/booklets may have some slight wear.

Very Good Plus (VG+): You will probably hear some surface noise between tracks or in quiet sections of a VG+ record. This is a record that was played several times without proper care or was played many times with care. Though there may be a pop or tic at times, the record will be enjoyable to listen to. The cover and the labels may show some writing, or have stickers or residue attached. Spine and ring wear on the jacket will usually be evident.

Very Good (VG): A VG record will play pretty decently, but there will be noticeable surface noise at times. There may be a mark on the record that is audible for several revolutions. The jacket may have seam splits and soiling.

Very Good Minus (VG-): A VG- record will have surface noise throughout but will not overpower the music. It may have a mark that will make a tic or popping sound for a whole song. The jacket will have several problems, including seam splits, soiling, writing and tears.
Good Plus (G+): A record rated in this condition will have surface noise such that it may overpower the music at times. It will have marks that tic or pop. It is a listenable record but not a collector copy. The jacket may have serious problems.

Good (G): A record rated in this condition will have significant surface noise. It will have marks that tic or pop and may have scratches that skip. It is listenable record but may be unpleasant to some ears. The jacket will have serious problems.
I ship lps in professional lp mailers with a sandwich of filler cardboard on both sides of the record for added stiffness. I also ship the vinyl outside the lp jacket to ensure no seam splits. After professionally cleaning the vinyl with a VPI record cleaning machine, I put the cleaned vinyl in a fresh sleeve and house the jacket in a new protective sleeve that seals so that no dust can enter. It's what I do for my lp collection and so do the same for the new owner of the lp for sale.
