Over the next couple of days I will be listing part of a quite lovely collection of Pink Floyd albums. These will not include recent re-releases, dodgy quality recordings, or anything even remotely like. These will all be of excellent quality, some even better than that. They will include some UK 1st pressings, and if not they will be extremely early pressings. All matrix/mother/stamper combinations will be listed (so long as they are readable!) so you can tell exactly what you are bidding on. All gradings are both visual and by listening, strictly to record collector guidelines.
So here we have one of Floyds most iconic titles. "WISH YOU WERE HERE". UK 1st pressing with the very earliest possible matrices, A1 / B3. This album has been very well kept since release day in September 1975. I can see no evidence of this being played. No marks to the vinyl and no spindle marks on the labels. A truly wonderful example, now almost 47 years old.
There are certain criteria that need to be fulfilled to be certain this is a genuine very first UK pressing and these are as follows. The cover should have a narrow spine pinched at both ends (variant 1) with no barcode of course! The inner sleeve should have top 2 and bottom left corners cropped at an angle (Variant 1). "Shine on you crazy diamond part 5" should credit Waters-Gilmour-Wright. These are all the very first variant of the very 1st press and this copy has them all present.
Creamy white cover is in quite lovely condition. So prone to dirty marks etc due to its colour. Has very slight corner bumping, spine is perfect and no shelf-wear at all. Graded as excellent (Ex).
Vinyl is in great shape. No marks worthy of note. Very well cared for example, stored in an anti-static sleeve to prevent damage from the coarse cardboard material used for the sleeve. 120 grams in weight. Matrices are A1 / B3. Side one mother/stamper is 3 GPM. Side 2 is 2 GPR. A really early pressing and of course should sound great. Graded as visually excellent plus (Ex+).
Inner sleeve is every bit as good as the cover. No slits from the disc, still a clean creamy white example. Probably as good as you will find. Graded as excellent.
Postcard with serrated edges is present and in pristine condition. Graded as excellent plus. FULL PLAY-GRADING:-                                         Bearing in mind that this album is now 47 years old I was expecting the usual for this album..... background noise and some dulling of sound quality. When I had played the whole album from start to finish, my final word in my notebook was "WOW". This plays as quiet as I have ever heard (and I have probably played 100+ copies of this album). These are my full and unedited words. Side 1.    A single "tick" during Gilmour's guitar solo. Side 2.    2 random and isolated dust "pops". Lead-ins and outs are smooth and almost silent. That really is it. Plays superbly. Quietly. Clarity, detail and musicality is amazingly good. I have visually graded as excellent plus. If this was a brand new just released vinyl, I would grade as excellent for sound quality. Because of its age, I have no reservation at all in grading the sound quality as excellent plus (Ex+).

So all in all a really lovely UK 1st pressing and would grace absolutely any collection in my view. If you can source a better copy......buy it now!
