Mint (M) - open or sealed unplayed record. The disc and sleeve have no visible defects.

Near Mint (NM / M-) is an almost excellent record. Either it has never been played, or it should be played without any audible defects. Most sellers do not give a rating higher than this because they believe that there are no absolutely excellent records. The plate should not show any signs of wear, stains or other defects. The envelope must not have any folds, cuts or other noticeable such defects. The same should be true for all additional materials - posters, inner envelopes, song sheets, etc.

Very Good Plus (VG +) - Usually priced at 50% or less of the cost of an NM-state record. The disc shows some signs of wear and tear from playing, but the previous owner took care of decent storage. Defects should be small (superficial scratches) that do not affect the entire reproduction. Slight surface roughness is acceptable without affecting sound quality. The label (apple) of the disc may have slight wear from the spindle (spider) or discoloration. The envelope may have small wear marks and / or notches. If it were not for these few small, but noticeable defects on visual inspection, then the plate is usually given an assessment of the NM state.

Very Good (VG) - Usually priced at 25% or less of the value of an NM state record. Most of the defects described above apply to this assessment as well. Surface noise is evident during playback, especially in quiet plays and in between tracks, but does not exceed the audibility of music elsewhere. Track wear is more visible, as are minor scratches that affect playback. The disc label may contain foreign writing, labels, or traces of foreign labels. The same applies to inserts or envelopes. At the same time, there should not be many of these disadvantages at the same time.

Good Plus (G +) - Typically priced at 10% or less of the value of the NM state record. The LP should play without skipping, but may have significant surface noise, scratches and visible track wear. The envelope may show a trace of record storage, especially at the bottom and center
