This is a very rare original 1958 first pressing copy of the All Mornin' Long LP by The Red Garland Quintet, featuring John Coltrane and Donald Byrd, on Prestige PRLP-7130. Rudy Van Gelder's initials in the runoff, and original West 50th address. This copy is somewhat worn but plays surprisingly well. The disc has lots of marks and scuffs but they are largely superficial. Plays with no distortion, and no skips or catches. Only some background crackle in places. Most of the time the music is louder than any background noise. Side one is taken up by the title track, which plays just beautifully until the piano solo and bass solo near the end, when the crackling becomes noticeable. Still it plays fine and is thoroughly enjoyable. On side two on the first track the music is similarly mostly louder than the noise, but there are some moments when the crackling comes through. The second and last track is quite to rollicking and plays with barely any noise. Worn but surprisingly good sound. The rare original cover is also quite worn, with split seams pretty much all around, with a small section of the bottom seam still holding, and a little tape. Still it looks pretty good, as you can see, with the image and information fully intact. Not a top copy at all but a pretty good playing copy nonetheless.
