This is a very rare original 1957 first pressing copy of the Chicago Sound by the Wilbur Ware Quintet featuring Johnny Griffin, on Riverside LP RLP-12-252. Original blue label copy. This is also a rare demonstration copy, from the legendary Music City store in Los Angeles. The sticker on the front tells all about it, and is stamped with the date April 12, 19??, possibly the actual 1957 release date.

This is a really beautiful copy. The disc looks gorgeous with only a few extremely light superficial marks, barely. Really looks hardly played. It sounds just magnificent and Griffin's tone really comes through beautifully in this recording. Plays so clearly. Wow... anyhow the cover is a little worn, with corner wear on all four corners, small seam splits at the center of the top and bottom, and some general edgewear and scuffing and whatnot. A red "OK" written on the back, a small tear on the outer paper at the top center of the back, and some slight water staining at the bottom and left of the back. Not bad, really, still quite a beautiful and solidly intact cover. The spine is fully readable, but is splitting just a little in the center where the disc touches the edge. This is quite a rare record in any condition, but finding an original with such a good disc is almost impossible. And a demo copy! This is a hard one to beat.
