PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us.  Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable.

Gene Clark left just as the Byrds were to start recording their 3rd album. He disliked pop stardom and especially flying...so, the rest of the band moved on and developed into a raga folk psych band, departing from their straight folkrock sound of 1965.

'Eight Miles High' is an early and glorious psychedelic masterpiece. And, it is a masterpiece, from start to finish. So much so, it still sounds absolutely thrilling and contemporary even today. That bass riff, that 'raga' see-sawing amazing guitar, the lyrics... David Crosby and Roger McGuinn 'finished' the song after Gene Clark left, adding to the song so it eventually became a rare but true collaborative writing effort. The rest of the album flows in the hip groove sounds of the sixties, including 'I See You' which fits into the same sort of mold as 'Eight Miles High'. David Crosby's 'What's Happening?!?!' sports perfect lead vocals with great guitar parts from McGuinn to 'answer' the questions posed by David lyrically - a lovely song. The singles 5D and 'Mr Spaceman' are both entertaining and quirky, although hardly in the same league as 'Eight Miles High'. Still, to finish the album we have a lovely version of 'John Riley' which features good Byrds harmony work. The whole record, almost without exception, actually 'sounds' great. It's a fine album and Gene Clark's loss had been overcome -- an achievement considering how much he'd dominated their early original material.
