Little Wheelie John was active from the late 1950s to the early 1960s.
He sang with Duke Ellington's orchestra and Count Basie's orchestra. Her singing is emotional and bluesy, not typical of a teenager.
He started his solo career at the age of 17 and debuted at the age of 30.
