PLEASE READ VERY CAREFULLY. THIS IS NOT YOUR AVERAGE COPY OF THIS ALBUM.
This is quite probably one of the best examples of this album ever offered for sale on Ebay, or anywhere.
Over the last few months I have been listing a quite lovely collection of Pink Floyd albums. This collection has been offered for sale to pay a large legal bill for a divorce. Within the sale there has been some top vinyl, within the deeper collection is some even better items. The seller has now given me a new batch to sell, including some rare titles, early vertigo swirls and a lovely Led Zep first copy turquoise lettering.
It is without doubt a very rare pleasure to offer up for sale a copy of the bands most iconic title, "The dark side of the moon". This is the original and genuine 1st UK pressing, with solid blue triangle labels, midnight blue tinted cover, rarest first edition 2 "PERMANENT" stickers and posters printed on heavier matte paper. This copy is in the most outstanding condition. I feel that if you came out of a record shop in 1973 with this under your arm, you would not be disappointed. Also included in the sale, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the release of this album, I have included a sealed copy of the 50th anniversary live recording from 1974. This is pictured in the photo section. There will be a couple of added items too, all relative to this iconic album. The seller in question has 6 copies of "Dark side" with the solid blue triangle labels. That fact alone means that none has been played very much. I have been given the pleasure of listing each one.
This copy has been fully play-graded with full comments below.
midnight blue tinged cover is in quite stunning condition, always stored in protective polythene cover. Almost no shelf-wear at all and retains almost a new look. Graded as excellent plus. Vinyl is in perfect shape. No marks. Graded as visually excellent plus. Both posters are in superb shape without damage. There is some very light discolouration to the rear from age, but no pin holes, blue-tack etc etc. Graded as excellent. Black original inner sleeve with Made in Great Britain and patent numbers in grey text is in an excellent undamaged condition. Both sticker/postcards are present and in pristine condition. These are the VERY earliest examples with the word "PERMANENT" in red print on the rear. Please note that later copies, (right up until the A11/B11 copies) had the diagonal brown stripe rear. Graded as excellent plus. Please note that I do not use the grade "mint" unless an album is still sealed in original wrap and most certainly never played. Too many sellers use this grade quite heavily My top grade for a used vinyl album is excellent plus (Ex+). I am sure most sellers would stick a "mint" on this one!
THE PLAY-GRADING OF THE ALBUM IS AS FOLLOWS:-
Weight of the album is 145 grams. Sits nicely. I have a couple of points of reference on this album. The heartbeat opening and the segue between tracks 3 and 4 ("Time"). The album starts almost silently. During the 1st track there are two quiet "ticks" that are almost impossible to hear. The segue I mentioned earlier plays through silently. Those are my only comments to side one, which plays almost silently throughout. This gets my highest used vinyl grade, Ex+. Side two has a little single dust "pop" at the start. I am sure this will either clean out, or play out. It is nothing. The whole of side two plays to the highest standard you could ever wish for. In total honesty, this whole album plays like a brand new copy. More 50 minutes old than 50 years old. My highest grading for the whole album without question. I have never heard a copy as clean as this. The musicality and detail is quite breath-taking. Is there a better copy out there? I find that very hard to believe. This one is an absolute gem and will never need upgrading. To what?
All albums will be housed in a brand new heavy duty polythene cover. All vinyl's will be housed in a new anti-static inner sleeve. I pack my albums for transit in the most secure packaging imaginable and send 1st class signed for postage with The Royal Mail. I only charge exactly what it costs me!
I accept returns if the winner is not 100% delighted with the condition of the album, not just for a change of mind. I take the time to provide quality photographs of the album, along with a detailed description, so please respect this.
I will post overseas, with the exception of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine for obvious reasons. I have quoted a blanket price of £25 which will be adjusted once I know where the winning overseas bid has come from.
If you bid on this, please expect the highest quality copy of this album. A copy that is near to brand new is more than rare (rare being another word used far too easily amongst sellers). If you think you have seen and heard good copies before, I suggest you rethink. This is a stunning example in every way.
Good luck if you decide to bid.
