Tetragrammaton was responsible for releasing this controversial 1968 Apple Records album, Unfinished Music No. 1: Two Virgins in the United States. It was recorded by John and Yoko and had nude photos of the pair on the front and back covers. Tetragrammaton released it after Capitol (who usually released Beatles stuff), refused the album.

Because of the cover, album was declared to be pornography in some states. A couple of years later, Tetragrammaton had financial difficulties, probably because 30,000 copies of the record were seized by police. The records were held as evidence for a court case, which made it impossible for Tetragrammation to sell them. They subsequently went out of business in 1970.

Vinyl Condition:    EXCELLENT

   

It has very few hairlines, no real scuffs or scratches. It plays well throughout. Plays with little or no clicks but has soft crackling especially in quieter sections. (It is generally a quiet album). Clean labels. No writing, no spindle marks or spindle wear.

 Sleeve Condition:    VERY GOOD

Has very little general wear, some edge wear. Has some creases, but has a clean spine. No tears. No splits, no sellotape, no writing. But it is covered in age spots which have been highlighted by the photographs. Also there are tiny pin-holes, front and back, top and bottom centre, (where someone no doubt has pinned it to the bedroom wall).

Inner Sleeve:   EXCELLENT

Plain black poly-lined inner is very clean. Has some creases. No splits, no tears, no writing, no sellotape, etc. A very decent inner sleeve.

Grading System:  I have used Record Collector magazine set of standards for the condition of second-hand records. I have added a (+) or (-) to my gradings where applicable.

I grade all records in accordance with the Rare Record Price Guide (see above). However, if you feel I have graded your record incorrectly please email me ASAP so we can resolve the problem amicably.

RECORD COLLECTOR Grading System

MINT:   The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.  (NOTE: As far as I am concerned, MINT will never apply to second hand vinyl records).

EXCELLENT:   The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD:   The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD:   The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR:   The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR:   The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD:   The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

 

Post & Packaging - I recycle all packaging so you will get your goods in recycled packaging / cardboard container. All items over £20 are insured and sent 'Signed For' or ‘Tracked 48’ and I always obtain a 'Certificate of Posting' for cheaper items. All items are securely and properly packaged and vinyl is sent using double corrugated cardboard stiffeners.
