Rare lp in VG+ condition

Time: 3:55 P.M ., a Sunday afternoon, March tenth, the year of Our Lord, Nineteen hundred and sixty-three. The special service, with the Reverend Charles Watkins and the Los Angeles Apostolic Mass Choir, was to have started at Four o'clock, but already Bethany Church, where the Elder Robert MacMurray is Pastor, was packed. Now there was standing room only. The audience sat patiently waiting, being carried into the service by Thomas Wood of Detroit, Michigan, who was guest organist.

One glance around and you knew the church world

of the city of Los Angeles was well represented, at one of the few services of this type given by the one and only Charles Watkins of Cleveland, Ohio; Minister, Sociologist, Recording Artist of many wonderful tunes, among them, Heartaches, Wake up in Glory, and Beloved, a Radio and TV Veteran, Master Arranger and Composer of Religious music.

Reverend Watkins sat quietly in the Hosts' office and precisely at four o'clock, he arose from his chair, with a smile on his face, moving gently through the crowd to where the Mass Choir was waiting. He directed them downstairs, having gathered them all around him, he said, “Well my children, it is up to you. You have had only nine hours to prepare for this service. I think that you have done well for the allotted time. Remember this, God will be listening to you out there and He shall judge the merits of the program from your hearts . . . Let us pray."

It was a beautiful service from beginning to end, with the various Youth Choirs from the Apostolic Churches of the city, contributing their time. But ..then you are there.
