This is the original deep groove RVG-etched “P”-pressing of Thad Jones “The Magnificent” on the New York 23 labels of Blue Note BLP 1546. The flat rim playing surface is in extraordinary condition, with a beautiful luster; a tiny mark on the second track of Side 2 makes three light tics. The coated reverse-frame West 63rd cover is also in extraordinary condition – bright and clean throughout; superficial rubbing along the top seam; light age toning on the left edge of the back slick; slight wear at the spine corners; ½” bump/wear at the bottom right corner. Personnel include Gigi Gryce, Benny Powell, Tommy Flanagan, Percy Heath, and Max Roach. $1500.00.
