On offer is 1980 12” by PAUL McCARTNEY - ‘TEMPORARY SECRETARY’ b/w ‘SECRET FRIEND’ - on EMI, catalogue no. 12 R6039.

The interest here is ‘Secret Friend’, the B-side, which is essentially Macca mucking about in the studio with synths and sequencers and playing with vocal effects (running through it all is a peculiar sound like a mutant version of the Mills Brothers imitating trumpets with voices). It’s chill-out and trance dance before the terms were coined, and must have sounded mind-blowing in 1980. Submerged in there is possibly the best song McCartney had written since ‘Blackbird’ from The White Album. And this relegated to a B-side with typical lightweight fluff on the A.

Plays with some mild surface noise, indicating the vinyl could use a deep clean (nothing worse, is my guess). The sleeve has some ringwear and some minor wear.

In short, the vinyl grades as a Record Collector VERY GOOD PLUS with the potential to be EXCELLENT. The sleeve is EXCELLENT MINUS.

To be shipped in the STRONGEST 625 MICRON BEST 12” BROWN BOARD MAILER COMPLETE WITH 2 STIFFENERS and plastic sleeve.
