ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This outstanding and rare LP – a superb collector’s copy – from German RCA (RL 87948, German pressing (medium weight), Red Seal label, DDD stereo) features the young Evgeni Kissin’s dazzling performance of Haydn’s Piano Concerto No. 11 in D Major H XVIII, made with conductor Vladimir Spivakov and the Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra.
Filling out the disc is Spivakov and the Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra’s equally impressive account of Haydn’s Violin Concerto No. 1 H VIIa and the Sinfonia Concertante for Violin, Cello, Oboe, and Bassoon in B-flat Major H 1 No. 105. Joining Spivakov here (who leads from the violin) are soloists Mikhail Milman (cello), Alexei Utkin (oboe), and Marc Minkowski (bassoon).
All three recordings were madein the warm acoustics of the Konzerthaus, Viennaon 10 August 1988 (producer: Wilhelm Meister / engineer: Richard Österreicher).
Incidentally, the cover photo of Spivakov and Kissin was taken by Fayer Fotostudio. Included is a full-size, 4-page insert with superb liner notes by Richard Freed, printed in German, English, French, and Italian.
CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. There is minor bumping/wear at corners, but really that is all. There are no seamsplits, bends, owners’ markings, or other defects, and the album remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, an excellent collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT and the playback is superb – overall, a beautiful collector’s copy.
