Curtis Mayfield recorded the soundtrack to the popular blaxploitation film, Super Fly, in 1971-1972 an it was released in 1972 on Curtom. Not expected to be a hit, the album proved otherwise, having become a classic hit and one of the pioneering albums of a new movement of realism of the times and funk. Pretty much Curtis Mayfield's best. Rolling Stone Magazine has ranked it number 69 on their list of Top 500 Albums of All Time.
