ARTIST: Lou Donaldson
LABEL: Blue Note 1593 (Mono)
TITLE: Blues Walk
CONDITION:
Sleeve: The front cover is VG+ to VG++ w/ some ring wear at the bottom, some general light wear, a little light fading, some lamination peeling along the opening edge, small bottom right corner bend. The back cover is VG w/ some general wear on the white background. Has a small line of light staining along the middle to right bottom and a little more along the very top. Also has 2 names at the top middle to left corner and a small chip in the paper at the top left corner. Seams are intact but all the corners have a little paper loss w/ the most at the top left corner.
Record: Retains high original gloss w/ light surface scuffs and a few tiny light scratches. Side A has a couple of concentric lines on Track 1, Side A. Side B has a couple of very tiny nicks on the last track. I play graded this entire LP. Side A plays Mint- except for 5 light background squeaks from the concentric lines on Track 1. Track 1 & 2 on Side B play VG+ to VG++ w/ light random background surface noise and light random background ticks. Track 3 plays better, a strong VG++ w/ a few light random background ticks. Has fantastic Van Gelder sound presence throughout! / VPI cleaned / Has a name on one label.
COMMENTS: So this is one of those early Blue Note mixed pressings. Both labels have 47 West 63rd NYC w/ R under the E. Side A is not deep groove but Side B is deep groove. Both sides have RVG in dead wax, Side A has "ear" and Side B kind of has a half "ear". The address on the bottom of the back cover is 43 West 61st St New York 23. Comes w/ an original Blue Note inner sleeve w/ the latest record pictured is #4109
One of my personal fave Lou Donaldson LP's. A Blue Note classic!! It features : Lou Donaldson (Alto Sax), Herman Foster (Piano), Dave Bailey (Drums) 'Peck' Morrison (Bass) & Ray Barretto (Conga)
Tracks : 1. Blues Walk...
2. Move...
3.The Masquerade Is Over...
4. Play Ray...
5. Autumn Nocturne...
6. Callin' All Cats...
NOTE: VPI cleaned means that this record was cleaned on a professional $500 cleaning machine, which does wonders for the playback of all vinyl records!
