ITEM DESCRIPTION:

This beautiful and rare gatefold LP – a superb collector’s copy – from Music Guild Records (M-48, US pressing, blue/white label, mono) features cellist Aldo Parisot in masterly accounts of three of composer ’s Six Sonatas for Cello and Basso Continuo Op. 1, recorded with harpsichordist Fernando Valenti and cellist Italo Babini in New York City in April 1963.

The exact contents are as follows, all works by Carlo Graziani:

Sonata No. 5 in D Major for Violincello and Basso Continuo Op. 3

Sonata No. 6 in E-flat Major for Violincello and Basso Continuo Op. 3

These remarkably inventive and deeply lyrical works should be much better known. It would be difficult to improve upon Parisot’s supremely eloquent performances. The sound is first rate.

These sessions were produced by Jerry Newman. The interior panels of the gatefold jacket carry authoritative liner notes by Alice Bunzi, printed in English only, as well as a lengthy listing of other titles avaialble from Guild Music Records. The striking cover design is uncredited.

PLEASE NOTE:

This particular issue – both the gatefold jacket and LP itself are heavy – will weigh over 600 g. This means that outside of Europe the cost for shipping is about $22 USD, and that is just for standard airmail. Certified airmail (with a tracking number) costs $25 USD.

Those in doubt can visit the Spanish postal website (Correos.com), which is available in English. Although this listing states “free” shipping, it is not really free, of course. I have to pay for shipping like everyone else.

Anyway, all this to say that those who feel the price is high need to take the cost of shipping into account. If you have any questions or doubts, feel free to write and I will be happy to help. Thank you.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is near-MINT. There is minor bumping/wear at corners, but that is all; otherwise, the album appears almost as new. There are no seamsplits, owners' markings, or other defects, and the remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, this is an excellent collector's copy.

The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT. Although surfaces are not absolutely silent (and thus I have rated it NM vs. MINT) this is a fine copy and playback is superb. If you must have perfect surfaces, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, this rates as a NM collector's copy.
