If I could stick my pen in my heart,
And spill it all over the stage,
Would it satisfy you, would it slide on by you?
Would you think the boy is strange?
  Ain't he strange?

If I could win you, if I could sing you,
  A love song so divine,
Would it be enough for your cheating heart,
If I broke down and cried?
  If I cried?

I said I know it's only rock 'n' roll but I like it,
I know it's only rock 'n' roll but I like it, like it, yes, I do,
Oh, well, I like it, I like it, I like it,
I said can't you see that this old boy has been a lonely?

If I could stick a knife in my heart,
  Suicide right on stage,
Would it be enough for your teenage lust?
Would it help to ease the pain?
  Ease your brain?

If I could dig down deep in my heart,
Feelings would flood on the page,
Would it satisfy you, would it slide on by you?
Would you think the boy's insane?
  He's insane.

I said I know it's only rock 'n' roll but I like it,
I said I know it's only rock 'n' roll but I like it, like it, yes, I do,
Oh, well, I like it, I like it, I like it,
I said can't you see that this old boy has been a-lonely?

And do you think that you're the only girl around?
I bet you think that you're the only woman in town.

I said I know it's only rock 'n' roll but I like it,
I said I know it's only rock 'n' roll but I like it,
I said I know it's only rock 'n' roll but I like it,
I said I know it's only rock 'n' roll but I like it, yes, I do,
Oh, well, I like it, I like it. I like it...
ROLLING STONES: "It's Only Rock & Roll (But I Like It)" LP, FIRST UK PRESSING, 22nd OCTOBER,1974.

ROLLING STONES RECORDS, TEXTURED YELLOW LABELS: COC 50103.

MAITRIX: COC . 50103 . A2  / COC . 50103 . B2
Pressed By CBS, the maitrix is machine stamped at their 12 'clock position in the run-out grooves, I do not believe there ever was
an 'A1/ B1'... until the later reissues, they are easily identified by 'CUN' changed catalogue number prefix.  That believe was
formed and based on long, long experience and I consider 'A3/ B3' low, let alone the lowest typed above and shown in a compiled
picture.

HAND SCRIBED IN THE RUN-OUT GROOVES; "Rolling Stones Records"

FIRST ISSUE "It's Only Rock & Roll" THICK CARD CREDITS/PICTURES INNER SLEEVE IN MINT CONDITION.
Unused, there is no wear, creases or ageing, so it has to be a straight 'Mint' grading.

FIRST ISSUE 'Shorepack' PRINTED COVER, UNUSED WITH ONLY MINUSCULE STORAGE SIGNS.
In fact the only worthy of discussion is how the cover was factory folded and glued together, as usual a slight bunching effect
very common to square spines like this, just fold a thick piece of paper in the same manner and see how easy it folds down to a
lightly uneven square shape.  Detailing the trivial is also detailing such a stunning, unused and unworn cover, a very vulnerable
matt cover that rarely rises above 'Very Good' condition as a genuine UK first issue.  The superb artwork's colours are totally
unfaded. A gentle record impression and the merest brushing to the spine tips is all, considering this cover has been standing in
storage the last 41 years, there is nothing else to detail not covered by a minus in the grading, superb condition, first edition
"It's Only Rock & Roll" cover with an unplayed record inside!
THE COVER IS IN MINT- CONDITION.

THE TEXTURED LABELS INSTANTLY SHOW THE FAINTEST SPINDLE CONTACT OR HANDLING, BUT THERE ARE NONE.
MY LABEL PICTURES ARE ALL THAT IS REQUIRED TO CONFIRM AN UNPLAYED RECORD.  THE VINYL IS ALSO LIKE
BRAND NEW WITHOUT ANY FORM OF MARKS OR SCUFFS.  A CLOSE UP PICTURE OF SIDE 2's LABEL SPINDLE HOLE
SHOWS THE SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF VINYL SHAVINGS FROM THE PRESSING PROCESS, REASON ENOUGH NOT TO
RISK DISLODGING THAT AND OFFER THIS AS UNPLAYED IN AN ASTONISHING 41 YEARS, ALMOST TO THE MONTH.
THE RECORD IS IN UNPLAYED, MINT CONDITION.

Recorded At Musicland Studios, Munich, Germany; 13th - 24th November 1973,
20th February - 3rd March & 12th April - 27th May 1974.
Sound Engineers - Glyn Johns & Keith Harwood
Produced By The Glimmer Twins (Mick & Keith)
The Rolling Stones ended the 1960's decade losing founder member Brian Jones, on the 9th June,1969 there was an announcement
that he was being replaced by 21 year old guitarist, Mick Taylor, fresh from playing pure blues with John Mayall.  Mick Taylor
gave the Stones music a new dimension, his fluid blues style was perfectly suited to the Stones and he adapted superbly to their
heaviest rock. His impact was immediate, from the great "Let it Bleed," onto to "Sticky Fingers," "Exile" & "Goat's Head Soup."
The four LP's featured Taylor's distinctive guitar blending perfectly with Keith's during one of the Rolling Stones most prolific
era's, they withstood Brian Jones demise musically and went from strength to strength. In November,1973 they began the recording
sessions for the fifth album album with Mick Taylor, but "It's Only Rock & Roll" would become his final album as the Stones lead
guitarist, the end of another chapter in the on-going long history of the Rolling Stones. Mick Taylor gave his reason for leaving
as simply, after five and a half years it was time to move on and try something different.  That happened in December,1974, the
Stones were about to leave for Munich to begin work on the follow up to "It's Only Rock & Roll", the timing was right for Taylor
to leave and join the Jack Bruce Band.  Ronnie Wood was ready and waiting in the wings, after recording and releasing his solo
LP,"I've Got My Own Album To Do" in October,1974, featuring a host of famous musicians, including Keith & Mick, Ronnie denied
rumours he was leaving the Faces to join the Rolling Stones.  As coincidences happen, Ronnie's outstanding solo LP was released
in the same October as "It's Only Rock & Roll" and on the inner sleeve his name was mentioned and credited for "inspiration," the
reason for those rumours. It was later revealed Ronnie had played a 12-string acoustic guitar and also sang backing vocals on the
LP title track, as you might have just read in the full album credits given above, a certain David Bowie also sang on that chorus.
From the Faces, Kenney Jones played the drums on "It's Only Rock & Roll" and this was an album where the Stones were expanding
on their own musical output, Ron Wood did not officially join them until April, 1975.

collector's, the LP itself, "It's Only Rock & Roll" was a natural peak of all that preceded it. I'm politely saying nothing that
followed ever again quite presented an album, where every single track re-scaled the musical heights previously achieved on
"It's Only Rock & Roll", or the other four albums with Mick Taylor.  I cannot name even one average track on their double album,
"Exile On Main Street" and I had better stress again I am only giving a personal opinion having followed the singles and albums
since 1963.   The surprising aspect of "It's Only Rock & Roll" was how the album was held off the No.1 position by the almighty
talent of.... the Bay City Rollers!  British music in 1974 had some awful stuff around and the Stones had to make do with runner
up spot at No.2.  Still a huge selling album, an unplayed/Mint first pressing is a major rarity, writing these ebay descriptions
often overlaps onto individual musician's movements between bands I followed right from their earliest recordings.  Ron had
gained recognition as bass guitarist with the Jeff Beck Group between 1967 & 1969, when Rod Stewart was their lead vocalist,
he switched to lead guitar for Rod's two solo Vertigo LP's and of course when the Faces formed in the same period.  Here I am
now telling how in late 1974 the Stones lost Mick Taylor and Ronnie Wood was on the verge of becoming their new lead guitarist.
In 1965 I bought a single by the Birds,"Leaving Here", I had no idea Ronnie was in the band then, I just liked the track and that
was the same year I first heard Jeff Beck when he joined the Yardbirds, the connections are unbelievable, but then so was the era
itself!  With a stunning 1968 first pressing, Mint mono "Bare Wires" soon to be listed on ebay, I will refrain from discussing
how a very young Mick Taylor replaced the great Peter Green in Jonh Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Peter himself had replaced Eric
Clapton!  Cream & Fleetwood Mac have to added to astounding musical chairs that vastly affected the Rolling Stones in 1969 and
the first half of the 1970's decade... then Ron Wood would became the final guitarist to become a permanent band member.

In 1967 the Rolling Stones first attempt at record production was "Their Satanic Majesties Request", then Jimmy Miller took over
for "Beggar's Banquet" and became a permanent fixture.  After "Goats Head Soup" they felt the need for a change and returned to
producing on "It's Only Rock & Roll," Mick & Keith adopted an alias, "The Glimmer Twins", reflecting the current 1970's obsession
with 'Glam Rock.' Initially the idea was to record a whole album of favourite r&b songs, one side featuring live versions and the
other side with studio recordings.  The remnant of that on the album is "Ain't Too Proud To Beg," they had recorded "Drift Away",
"Shame, Shame, Shame" as well but that only inspired developing new guitar riffs and this album of new material just happened.
Starting the album in late '73, was where the first seeds were sown, but masterpieces like "It's Only Rock & Roll" cannot just be
contrived and artificially created, there simply has to be genuine sparks of inspiration to write & record such a fantastic track
like "Time Waits For No One."

The labels are in pristine, brand new condition, literally, without any spindle alignment signs, an unplayed major Rolling Stones
first pressing.  The labels are unique to an October,1974 UK record, really distinctive because ever since forming their own label
and right from "Sticky Fingers", they still have the same thickly textured matt paper in a very vivid yellow colour, showing any
spindle use, however light it was.  The record has that exclusive glossy sheen of unhandled, unplayed Mint vinyl, something I am
accustomed to, after all I was doing this back in the late 80's as a professional record seller  and my ebay trading says it all.
'Unplayed' is indeed extremely rare but never 'impossible,' two years ago I sold a first pressing in this ultimate condition, it's
utter nonsense about Mint not existing, simply not true. The stunning condition of the unused card inner sleeve is without any
wear or blemishes, so Mint continues there, and for the equally remarkable condition first issue cover, a minus is all that is
required to incorporate the merest hint of standing in storage for all those decades since 1974.   'Rolling Stones Records' still
had the 1971 original catalogue number "COC" prefix in 1974, that was to be changed soon to "CUN".

The record centre prevented my usual dilemma, one play or offer it without me hearing it, this time I must leave it exactly how
it left the CBS pressing plant 41  years ago, allowing the next owner to become the first to hear it after all those years, I am
thrilled to have a fantastic, true Mint first pressing "It's Only Rock and  Roll" to offer!   For anyone new to my records, they
come with a money back guarantee, played by myself or not, that is nothing to do with ebay because we offered the same when
trading at record fairs, when it was not enforced or even expected.

    R & M RECORDS.

My lifetime's love of music and records began at a very young age, the arrival of the Beatles and the 1960's decade
in general had a very profound effect. It was only natural to bring all my first hand experience of collecting vinyl
into becoming a professional record seller.  Nearly thirty years ago we entered into the wonderful atmosphere
of record fairs with the highest possible standards set. When the Internet became the world's new market place for
vinyl, in 2001 it was time to join ebay. Those standards were rigidly adhered to as they will always continue to be,
the basics of honesty and integrity were very much part of the era the music I love originated in, so here is our friendly
and very efficient service we are proud to provide;

EVERY RECORD IS FULLY PLAYED AND COMES WITH A 'NO ARGUMENT' MONEY BACK GUARANTEE.
I USE GOOD OLD COMMON SENSE AS WELL AS A GLOBALLY ACCEPTED GRADING TERMINOLOGY
FROM THE U.K. "RECORD COLLECTOR PRICE GUIDE" BOOK.
THERE IT CLEARLY STATES "Sound Quality" AFFECTS EVERY GRADING LEVEL AND THAT IS THE ONE
AND ONLY POSSIBLE WAY TO ACCURATELY GRADE RECORDS. i.e. COMBINING A STRICT VISUAL
INSPECTION WITH VERY CLOSELY LISTENING TO EVERY SECOND, UNLESS PERHAPS IN THE CASE
OF GENUINELY UNPLAYED VINYL.  EVEN THEN WE STILL TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR A RECORD
WHEN A CUSTOMER RECEIVES EITHER A SEALED OR AN UNPLAYED RECORD.

We take 100% responsibility after an item has been posted and offer our fullest support in the event of any problems.

We have kept all our charges at the same level for years now, but due to the Post Office's new price increases, regretfully we
will have to increase the cost of LP's, however, singles will remain unchanged.  Ebay were aware of that happening and have
increased their minimum postal cost for LP's to £7.00, that figure has been enforced by the UK Post Office and it will become
our UK First Class, Recorded Delivery cost for albums up to the value of £46.  A temporary reduction this week means we can
now post LP's for £5, but who knows how long before the Post Office return to £7?

For LP's valued above £46, the cost will be £9, we are unhappy about either increase but our high standard of packaging has meant
in 13 years of ebay trading, there has not been one record damaged, we are determined to maintain that in the present and future.

IN THE UK RECORDS UP TO THE VALUE OF £46 WILL BE SENT RECORDED DELIVERY, OVER £46 WILL BE
SENT SPECIAL DELIVERY.
