[zipedit] The Beatles 'Yellow Submarine' Cat No "PCS 7070" Stereo Original UK Pressing! Near Mint Stunning Audio! Near Mint Vinyl! Barely Played Looks Almost As Unplayed! Stunning Original Garrod & Lofthouse Laminaed Front Only Cover With Black Lines At The Rear! Look! Earliest "1"to"1" Mother Stampers on Side 1!!! Rare Like This An Archive Copy!
Another from my personal collection of Beatles albums that I have accumulated over a period of over 45 years or more. I have more than 1000 Beatles UK albums alone. All of my records are stored with the vinyl removed from the cover and sleeve for protection. This is how I have always stored my records! This features an early variation cover the variation with the black lines at the rear! A stunning copy that is way over 45 years old! Looks almost as unplayed condition in my opinion rarely seen like this! The audio quality is special too sounds lovely clear and vibrant, any static/ticks heard are very isolated and only really noted on the second side but importantly no distortion no loud constant clicks or pops! This is totally complete and intact with original and correct record sleeve! A rare and early variation for avid Beatles collectors!
The album contains six songs by the Beatles, of which "Yellow Submarine" and "All You Need Is Love" had previously been released as singles. The remainder of the album was a re-recording of the film's orchestral soundtrack by the band's producer, George Martin.
The project was regarded as a contractual obligation by the Beatles, who were asked to supply four new songs for the film. Some songs were written and recorded specifically for the soundtrack, while others were unreleased tracks from other projects. The album was issued two months after the White Album and was therefore not viewed by the band as a significant release. Yellow Submarine has since been afforded a mixed reception from music critics, some of whom consider that it falls short of the high standard generally associated with the Beatles' work. It reached the top 5 in the UK and the US, and has been reissued on compact disc several times.
The album arose from contractual obligations for the Beatles to supply new songs to the soundtrack to United Artists' animated film Yellow Submarine. Having recently completed their album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band in April 1967, the group showed minimal enthusiasm for the project. Along with the music for their Magical Mystery Tour TV film, the Yellow Submarine soundtrack was part of a period that author Ian MacDonald later described as the band's "regime of continuous low-intensity recording ... it had a workaday quality about it – an intrinsic lack of tension which was bound to colour the resulting material." "Yellow Submarine" had been issued in August 1966 as a single, topping the UK chart for four weeks, and had also been released on the album Revolver. "All You Need Is Love" had been issued as a single in July 1967.
The film received its worldwide premiere in London in July 1968, by which time the Beatles were busy working on their eponymous double album, The Beatles, commonly called "the White Album". Ultimately, the Beatles were enthusiastic about the finished film, and did more to associate themselves with it after release.
Having been delayed so that it would not clash with the release of The Beatles, Yellow Submarine was issued by Apple Records on 13 January 1969 in the US and on 17 January in the UK. The album was issued in stereo only in the US, while the UK album was available in both stereo and mono, although the mono version is simply a fold-down (a combination of two stereo channels into one mono) rather than a specific mix. Since "All You Need Is Love" had been rush-released a single, it did not have an official stereo mix. Although the track was released on the US LP Magical Mystery Tour, an official stereo mix of the track was not made until 29 October 1968 for the album. In the US, 8-track tape versions featured "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" as an extra song on side two.
Side one: Songs from the film
All songs written and composed by George Martin, except "Yellow Submarine in Pepperland", by Lennon-McCartney.
Side two: Orchestral film score Side 1 "YEX 715-3" Side 2 "YEX 716-1" The Mother Stampers Side 1 "1" "RM" (LOOK! Earliest "1" to "1" Mother Stampers for the best possible Audio quality) Side 2 "4" "PL" The Vinyl This is the heavy thick and chunky type of vinyl (only found on 1st pressings) These have deeper grooves and are much more robust than later press!!(Only found like this on the earliest pressings of this album! On initial inspection the vinyl looks awesome and still retains its original sheen from new and lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free of any warping ( Please Note! I have double checked this), Almost looks as a new vinyl in my opinion. Absolutely super glossy appearance, retained from new! It is quite obvious to me that this vinyl has had barely no more than a handful fo plays in my opinion very rare to find on an original Beatles record that is nearly 49 years old! , I can't see any needle scratches at all on the playing surface at least there are (no) marks that would or indeed would have any major adverse effect on the awesome audio Quality that I heard and (no) loud constant clicks or pops at all!Absolutely remarkable for this mega rare early 1st press vinyl! The Audio Quality I have played this vinyl through track for track on a top system at very loud volume and in my opinion this not only looks barely played at all but sounds absolutely stunning on all frequencies! Superb crystal clear and vibrant throughout the first thing to note is that there is absolutely (no) loud clicks or pops and the audio is clear and very vibrant! there was just very light static/tick/crackle heard in just one or two isolated quiet places only. Cleaning should help enhance the audio quality in my opinion! ,, super bassey feel that can only be found on theses earliest pressings! Please note! Please allow for the lightest of background static crackle and perhapes very very light isolated distant static tick or ticks that would only be heard at very loud volume in a quiet place only!, but even between tracks any interfearance is minimal\ lovely and quiet and is definately graded at the very top! Also the earliest to boot! I would class my self as highly critical when it comes down to the audio quality. Please look at my completed listings of records that I have sold of this calaber and you will see that I normaly get it right! I would grade the audio at Near Mint Throughout (You would be hard pushed to find a better sounding copy in my opinion!) Hear for yourself in the player above! Actual recording from this album listed! . Please note! I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd isolated light distant static crackle\tick\light pop perhapes only heard during quiet places! Please remember that this is a genuine 49 year old original vinyl that would have originally been played on a 49 year old system! In my opinion this audio is arguably, one of the best that you could possibly find! It is important to note that this album has been stored in a case , laying dormant for over 35 years! A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves cases static ticks and crackle! A constant clean before each play is highly recomended, this will reduce any static and will enhance the audio quality!! The labels These are the original and early (APPLE LABELS) superbe condition! When angled in strong light, I find it hard to see any spider marks. If you could see any they could be counted! There is little if no spindle ware the hole is perfectly round, and tight on the spindle,, Please note! It is my opinion that this vinyl has barely ever been played no more than a handful of times! and of coarse very early copy and highly collectable like this! The Record sleeve This is the original plain white patented sleeve ''made in England' no splits or tares light creasing fading/staining with age only! The cover This is the original early UK press fully laminated GARROD & LOFTHOUSE COVER! Features the black lines at the rear (only early UK press covers, This is an early cover variation after the red lined cover) Rarely ever seen in this awesome top condition! No storage ware bumping at the corners. No Nasty Creases in fact minor, small crease lines only at the front edges to mention and not really noticed unless looked for in my opinion! This has its original SUPER GLOSSY APPEARANCE! (see photos) Very, very lightest of ringware\rubbing only can only really be seen angled to the light if looked at closely! Very minor creases at the rear which is generally lovely and clean any fading is very minimal with age only. Points to note! please look at the spine This has (not) been crushed with age! Only the earliest of these covers had slightly flatish, rounded spines ! (later press covers feature flat end spines with pinched ends) THIS COVER IS MEGA RARE IN THIS CONDITION! (Always been stored seperate from the vinyl for protection the way that I have always stored my records) Graded at least excellent plus in my opinion! HOW I SEND MY RECORDS! THIS ALBUM WILL BE SENT IN A LARGE BOX WITH CARDBOARD STIFFENERS THE ALBUM IS ALWAYS PUT IS A POLY SLEEVE AND ENCASED IN THE BOX WITH PLENTY OF BUBBLE WRAP FOR ADDED PROTECTION (SEE PHOTOS) As always I have tried to give my honest personal opinion when describing items listed!
