On offer is a 1970 LP by BOB DOWNES OPEN MUSIC called ELECTRIC CITY on VERTIGO RECORDS, catalogue number 6360 005.
There was no division between avant-garde jazz and hard rock in the early seventies. Flautist/saxophonist Downes was not the only jazzer to access his freaky side, sign to premier underground label Vertigo, stubbornly refuse to sell and go on to enjoy cult status amongst record collectors of the future. In short, a covetable item. Harold Beckett, Ian Carr, Ray Russell, Kenny Wheeler and Chris Spedding a.o. feature.
Condition is VERY GOOD+ for the vinyl. “Obviously been played but no significant deterioration in sound quality despite light surface marks. Very little wear and tear on cover and contents, without any major defects.” This translates as low level clicks and pops throughout. The gatefold sleeve is closer to EXCELLENT with straight edges and slight sticker residue on the back, next to ‘VO PRICE CODE’ box. Comes in the original poly-lined “SWIRL’ inner.
