ITEM DESCRIPTION:

This fascinating LP – rare in stereo – from Alpha (DB 143 C, pressed in Belgium, white/blue label, stereo) entitled “Quatre joyaux de la musique italienne pour cordes” features the great Lola Bobesco leading Les Solistes de Bruxelles in an all-Baroque program, first issued on LP in 1967 and brought off with stunning elan and unfailing charm.

The exact contents are as follows:

Giovanni Battista Sammartini: Sinfonia in G Major

Archangelo Corelli: Sarabande · Gigue · Badinerie

Carlo Riccioti (Giovanni Battista Pergolesi): Concertino No. 2 in G Major

Antonio Vivaldi: Overture de l’Opéra l’Olympiade (allegro · andante · allegro molto)

Any Bobesco recording is to be treasured and this is no exception; indeed, it's exceptional!

On the reverse side of the jacket is provided a biographical sketch of Les Solistes de Bruxelles, as well as some press reviews of their performances – all printed in French only. The striking cover photo is uncredited.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. There is light discoloration, minor corner wear, and one small ding/cut to the lower edge (really only visible on the reverse side), but that is all. There are no seamsplits, owners’ markings, bends, or other defects, and the album remains solid, bright, glossy, and attractive – overall, an excellent collector’s copy.

The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT. Though the surfaces are not perfectly silent (and thus I have rated it NM vs. MINT) this is a fine copy and playback is superb. If you must have perfect surfaces, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, this rates as a NM collector's copy.
