  THE BEATLES: "Live At The BBC" DOUBLE LP/VINYL SET, FIRST & ONLY UK PRESSING, 30th, NOVEMBER 1994.
  Not the recent re-issue, that had the lovely sepia colour removed from the artwork and for once, a black & white cover for 1960's
  connected music, looks cheap and more like a photo copied counterfeit!   Most importantly of all, this authentic, 1994 first UK
  pressing was mastered in Abbey Road Studios and pressed in EMI's UK Hayes, Middlesex pressing plant, onto UK top quality vinyl.
  The 2013 re-issue was made in an unspecified Eastern European country, any advantage gained by being brand new and sealed, in
  comparison to a 22 year old used and worn first pressing, is not applicable to this time capsule of a November,1994, record shop
  condition.  This even has the original 'HMV' record shop price sticker and a second with full details and stock number, which is one
  of the other main advantages to these rare sealed copies.  You not only have historical documentation of which UK record shop it
  was bought from, the stickers could not be removed on purchase in 1994, or in the 2000's by a crazy intervention of ebay sellers
  who destroy such a priceless history.  This time the 'HMV' stickers were stuck underneath the shrink wrapping of this very rare,
  genuine factory sealed "Beatles - Live At The BBC."  Authenticity becomes very important as we move ever further away from the
  late 20th century.

With the advent of so called UK vinyl Beatles albums from the late 1980's to the 2007 "Love"album, 'mysteriously' appearing
  almost daily on ebay, I am making an extra effort to give definitive details for the authentic items.  Just like those endless
and increasing Beatles colour vinyl / picture discs, they are counterfeit fakes without any value. The late 1980's - 2007 Beatles
titles being offered as UK originals, but available in apparently limitless quantities, are most certainly not authentic because
that simply cannot be.  Concerning "Live At The BBC," I personally witnessed how the British biggest record retailers sold out of
  vinyl copies almost immediately and the demand ended there and then, in other words, so few were interested in buying records
  in 1994, EMI had no reason to re-press them.  Not just for the Beatles, Pink Floyd's huge selling "The Division Bell" in 1994 was
  also pressed on vinyl in strictly limited numbers, due to the main demand centering on CD's or cassettes, the rarity of those UK
  pressings are one and the same as "Live At The BBC" and other Beatles titles being targeted by counterfeiters. They cannot copy
  EMI's distinctive stamped /embossed maitrix though, so the UK 1994 "The Division Bell" records have exactly the same format
  of letters and digits as "Live At The BBC."  As the shrink wrapping is sealed, I cannot show pictures of the maitrix, with so few
  made I can and will give the maitrix on both records.  I also include the bar code, that can be seen through the shrink wrapping,
  so can the 'HMV' price & stock details sticker stuck underneath, the shrink wrapping was obviously applied after the sticker was
  attached. The details are as definitive as the bar code for authentication, the most important details on the bar code are found
  on the bottom section.  I will also type them below for easier reference without having to scroll up and do the same for the HMV
  sticker, then continue with my usual maitrix format for all four sides that exclusively apply to Abbey Road Studio mastering and
  EMI's pressing plant.  Back in the 1990's, EMI were still operating their pressing plant, the 2012 'remaster of the remastered'
  2009 Beatles LP's, (it's starting to confuse me now, this really is getting ridiculous), were pressed in an unknown or un-named
  European country.  I have investigated as far as I could and understand these latest have had the music's power reduced or as
  digital mastering is known, the 'bits' have been reduced/suppressed. Why?  That will make the sound even thinner, they will be so
  far removed from the original 60's analogue Master Tapes, you might as well play the CD's....which also have compressed sound, it
only makes top condition original UK/Abbey Road pressings from the 1960's and 1970's very precious indeed.  My only comment
  is play any 60's Beatles single in a minimum of Near Mint condition, you will hear stunning audio clarity that will blow away any
re-master made with downloading a priority.  I never clean records with chemical fluids or machines that damage vinyl in the long
term, just select the finest condition and play them, no way do they need corrosive chemicals that are dangerous to inhale and
burn your skin, what a terrible thing to do to vinyl.  54 / 55 year old Beatles first pressing give fantastic Master Tape sound
quality and no cleaning machine with dangerous chemicals could improve on that, in the same manner perfect analogue sound
never required digital re-mastering in a ridiculous continuous cycle.  Such audio perfection was never in need of 'improving',
only scaling down so mobile phones and tablets & PC's etc. can handle the incredible power records can with ease.  Not the
usual ebay record seller, over the top, condescending cliche's, but an honest reaction to hearing immaculate records of that
vintage almost daily.  Just some dust to clean from your stylus with a very soft  brush, chemicals or alcohol will damage music
signals embedded in the soft plastic, there is no such thing as 'professional record cleaning', more like 'amateur ignorance'
creating problems that never existed in the first place.
I better get on with events in 1994, amazingly this November, "Live At The BBC" will become....."It was 22 years ago today....

  THE COVER IS STILL INSIDE THE ORIGINAL VERY RARE 1994 SHRINK WRAPPING, ALL CORNERS, EDGES AND SPINE

There are no tears or splits on the entire covering of shrink wrapping, obviously I was unable to show the inside of the gatefold
cover and that will also be like brand new,I think a few more words about the rarity of this 1994 album being in shrink wrapping.
  Britain had so few shrink wrapped covers in every decade, it was the individual record shops who ordered a limited number of
  them, normally the shrink wrapping was machine crimped to finish before the opening edges.  Sealing records and any insert or
  lyric inner sleeves inside, was an even rarer event and it most certainly was for "Live At The BBC", rarer still was leaving the
  shrink wrapping unremoved and the records sealed inside.  The period of twenty two years since this was shrink wrapped, there
  was a strong possibility the shrink wrapping lived up to it's name as it usually does...... and shrunk, tightening often contorts
  corners, spines and edges even on gatefold covers.  With the stress created this cover stood firm, mostly thanks to the large
  square spine on the gatefold cover, the sheer quality of the cover was enough . The shrink wrapping did not cause any
  problems, it preserved the cover, inner sleeves and records in true 'Day Of Issue' Mint condition...including the original record
  shop stickers, if still with how the edges were raised in the process!  As tedious as constant repetition becomes, a quick reminder
all records made an impression on cardboard covers, right from the day they were first inserted.
  I NORMALLY REFRAIN FROM GRADING SHRINK WRAPPED COVERS BUT THIS ALBUM IS RARE ENOUGH TO MAKE
AN EXCEPTION FOR, THE GATEFOLD COVER IS IN UNUSED, UNOPENED, FACTORY SEALED, TRUE MINT CONDITION.

The Entire Album Was Produced By George Martin.
What a fantastic collection, two years of unique Beatles live music, exclusive versions of songs they never recorded on records,
  and wonderful fun between the performances.  They are mono radio broadcasts from as early as 1963, George Martin produced the
  the double album and did his very best with the sound quality, on the CD versions the sound is at best, barely acceptable.  Vinyl
was never more essential to the precious recording's and as the release was in 1994, before the "Anthology" series that acted to
  renew interest in records again, the UK pressed vinyl version of "Live At The BBC," was made in strictly limited numbers.  The BBC
  with their usual 'care' for such historic, archive material and being custodians of the most important live radio sessions ever to
  be committed to tape, unbelievably wiped the majority of tapes after they had been broadcast.... to re-use and re-record over the
  tapes. Those they did keep were in really fantastic quality, to compile this album, for all their hounding of bootlegs and anyone
who dared to sell unofficially sanctioned music, Apple/EMI turned to bootlegs to recover that lost, wiped material. We personally
  experienced peaceful record fairs suddenly filling with police and Blue Meanies running inside, shutting the doors and inspecting
  the items on tables.  We watched harmless, friendly fellow sellers with bootlegs being arrested and marched out in handcuffs, all
items were bagged up and confiscated, official & unofficial, we later found out the police went to their homes and smashed down
front doors to search for more records, tapes and CD's!  It was music not hard drugs, but when it suited record companies they
sought out so called 'bootleg' material to release themselves, hypocrisy of the highest order comes to mind!   I must set a really
great distance between fans who collected unreleased material and counterfeit items being made and sold with one purpose, to
  con and rip off collector's.  No way could they present material to the hardcore of fans, that was not genuinely unreleased, we
were too knowledgeable and it was fellow fans making the bootlegs in the first place!  What is happening on ebay is despicable, but
fanatical collector's bought all official releases and wanted to dig deeper, I often read only two of the 56 tracks on this album
were sourced from the 'Great Dane' bootleg series, that was far from being true, the facts are some of the top quality recordings
and you could  even say the superior quality BBC sessions, were preserved on bootlegs only. I go back to recording those original
BBC broadcasts from around late 1963 on my elder brother's reel-to-reel tape recorder directly from the radio, sadly those tapes
  either fell apart from the over splicing that held them together, or went missing, I was too young then to treat tape spools like
  records.  Luckily others had found the Beatles playing so many songs live that were not on their records, but only available on
the radio, exciting enough to record and keep and old enough to make sure the tapes were safely kept. I had to find them though
and when the Beatles broke up it became compulsive, I turned to bootlegs in the early 1970's when via boot LP's and tape trading,
that began re-building and re-collecting the Beatles BBC sessions.

    Then in 1988 the BBC hunted around for their surviving material and some had been transferred onto the BBC's own vinyl LP's for the
British troops abroad on their 'World Service' broadcasts.  They ran a series of programe's,"The Beeb's Lost Beatles Tapes", week
by week they were broadcast on Radio 1 in a documentary setting.  It was really the beginning of this double album and the tapes
  or surviving broadcasting vinyl revealed how little survived being wiped in the early to mid-1960's decade, 'Great Dane' supplied
the vast majority of this official release of the most important radio sessions of all time. Ebay descriptions should be truthful
after all and as a Beatles' collector who followed every stage of how these precious recordings eventually received an official,
  if somewhat hypocritical release, bootlegs were proven to be as vital to a huge record company, as to the fans.  Without this the
  "Anthology" series probably would never have happened, it was started in the late 1980's as a single album of unreleased Beatles
  out-takes on Abbey Road's Master tapes, but abandoned.  Without this "Live At The BBC," Paul, George & Ringo would not have got
  together to create two Beatles singles from John's home recorded demo's, made just before he died.  John Lennon collected Beatles
  bootleg albums in the late 1970's like original fans, he even supplied "Imagine" session out-takes as 'swops' for vinyl bootlegs
  he loved so much.   I always found it amusingly ironic how the late, great George Martin used his studio genius to create the
  finest possible mono sound quality, Beatles BBC sessions for EMI.....from bootlegs!
 
  That was exactly how it all happened and took many years to find and compile those amazing 56 songs and all the fun with the DJ's
  listed above, what a magnificent job was made of producing an album.   In 1994 I personally bought the CD version as well as the
  the vinyl and I only played the CD version once because of how superior the vinyl mastering was.  In 1994 it was all gloom & doom
  for vinyl as CD's looked very likely to bring about the end of records, or them ever being fully pressed again, there was even
  talk of EMI shutting down their famous pressing plant.  Few LP's were made then, as I mentioned earlier, even Pink Floyd's new
  album was relegated to just a few token vinyl versions, it was not that long ago really but I suppose with our forever advancing
  technology, the last 22 years are more like centuries in comparison to how slowly Man had progressed after inventing the wheel.
   I am particularly thrilled to be able to offer an unplayed copy with the inner sleeves and the cover in such superb Mint condition.
   
  George Martin decided the 1962 broadcasts that survived were in too poor quality to include, the set begins from 22nd January,
1963, in reality, the Beatles had been performing live on the radio from March,1962.   How they managed to cope, finding time to
perform so many radio sessions during that most frantic period of 1963 -1965, tells of dedication beyond just seeking exposure.
They simply did not need it to sell records, books or any of an industry of memorabilia that sprung up around them, they carried
on until May,1965 and appeared on 52 radio shows for the BBC.  The main reason was they loved the opportunity to play songs that
  were often cover versions that inspired them in the first place, as much as their own material.  They just relaxed and when they
felt like it, sat around  the mikes with only acoustic guitars and a harmonica, recording schedules and touring were forgotten as
they made music for the pure joy of it.  Cramming in 30 minute sets on stage against a background of screaming hysteria, was not
exactly conducive to developing musically, it was at the BBC sessions they were able to progress and evolve, then take that into
  Abbey Road studio.  Just how happy they were, can be heard on the 'speech' tracks and all the banter and jokes with the DJ's was
  so perfectly captured on "Live At The BBC."  Those from my generation and the Beatles themselves, came from an era when a radio
  was all important, far more than a TV and even comedy worked better without visual images, the very reason why records were so
  loved.... and heavily played!    I mentioned the Beatles musical influences, two performances of such songs are unique to the BBC
  sessions, number among my personal favourites and feature definitive Lennon lead vocals. The Beatles loved USA r&b / blues and
  their 1963 debut album contained an r&b song recorded by Arthur Alexander, "Anna", this BBC album contains two more Alexander
  cover versions and they are simply stunning! "Soldier Of Love" and "A Shot Of Rhythm And Blues," both tracks were not wiped by
  the BBC and their tapes were in such perfect sound, they could have been included on the mono "Please Please Me" LP with "Anna."
  They contain the very sound of the Beatles themselves instrumentally and you will never hear a better John Lennon vocal or backing
  harmonies from George and Paul on either performance.  Obviously I would never open any sealed in records, but even if I was
  going to play and describe the tracks, with so much info to give, I doubt it very much if I would be able to cover more than half the
  56 tracks.  There are so many other album major highlights, that has to include "I'll Be On My Way," a superb Lennon & McCartney
  composition the Beatles performed live for the BBC, but they never recorded it for a record. Filled with such stunning three part
  vocal harmonies, it showcases talent of true greatness, then there are some really electrifying, volatile rock & roll performances
  demonstrating what a great rock band  they were live.  The most amazing sequence is on the second side of Record 1, performing,
  "Johnny B. Goode," "Memphis, Tennessee" and then "Lucille."  For pure blues, "I Got A Woman" and "That's All Right (Mama)" were
  beyond just paying homage to Elvis Presley, blues / r&b was more like a main artery running through all their own compositions in
  the earliest schoolboy days like "One After 909", to rocking out live on the Apple rooftop, performing the great "Get Back." If I
  had to pick just one song that stands out as a towering performance among so many others, it has to be John Lennon's staggering
  vocals on the dark, mood intensive, "I Just Don't Understand."  Musical categories pale into insignificance, but a blend of r&b with
  folk / blues will have to suffice, it proved to be a deeply influential style when the Beatles began to develop their songwriting
  and performances.  If there is a Beatles fan who has not dipped into these essential live BBC sessions, I recommend you at least
  get to hear "I Just Don't Understand," because none of the studio cover versions made in Abbey Road, even came close to this.
 
  The vinyl is top quality and heavyweight, no, I never weigh records, only once carefully packaged and shipping requires accurate
  weight, I will leave the next owner to decide whether or not to open the seal, my job is locating such rarities, but I will make
  one comment.  Over the coming years the rarity of a Mint UK pressing of such an important Beatles album from the 20th century,
will become a prized addition to a Beatles collection, after all this bridged all previous albums with the "Anthology" series and
no collection is complete without all three volumes.  There are other reasons to include a vinyl edition, struggling to read the
postage stamp size CD booklet is dispensed with,  the 12" x 12" inner sleeves placed on such a massively thick cover, they make
  reading the complete recording info while listening to the tracks, a real pleasure.  Inside the gatefold cover you also have two
panels with further or extra details, written by the 60's Beatles publicist Derek Taylor and the album's organiser, Kevin Howlett.
Approximately 2 hours & 13 minutes of absorbing listening to the Beatles performing material they never recorded, and fascinating
alternate live versions of songs they did release on records.  All the long years I spent hunting for the most obscure BBC recording
and more than I ever dreamt of hearing, are contained here over four sides of two unplayed Mint records, there is a real reason to

We have kept all our charges at the same level for years now, but due to the Post Office's new price increases, regretfully we
will have to increase the cost of LP's, however, singles will remain unchanged.  Ebay were aware of that happening and have
  increased their minimum postal cost for LP's to £7.00, that figure has been enforced by the UK Post Office and it will become
our UK First Class, Recorded Delivery cost for albums up to the value of £46.  A temporary reduction this week means we can
now post LP's for £5, but who knows how long before the Post Office return to £7?

For LP's valued above £46, the cost will be £9, we are unhappy about either increase but our high standard of packaging has meant
in 13 years of ebay trading, there has not been one record damaged, we are determined to maintain that in the present and future.
