Ruth Brown (January 12, 1928 – November 17, 2006) was an American singer-songwriter and actress, sometimes known as the "". She was noted for bringing a  style to  in a series of hit songs for  in the 1950s, such as , "" and "". For these contributions, Atlantic became known as "The house that Ruth built" (alluding to the popular nickname for ).

Following a resurgence that began in the mid-1970s and peaked in the 1980s, Brown used her influence to press for musicians' rights regarding  and contracts, which led to the founding of the . Her performances in the   earned Brown a , and the original cast recording won a .

Lucky Lips is a song written by  and . It was originally recorded by  in 1957, and was successfully  by  in 1963.

The song was first recorded by  singer Ruth Brown for  in i n September 1956, and was released as a single in early 1957. The song became only her second hit on the   – after "" in 1953 – and reached no. 25 on the pop chart and no. 6 on the  R&B chart.
