Another from my personal collection of over 50,000 albums that I have acquired over a period of more than 45 years! Purchased from new in 1977,Features the original 1st issue and later withdrawn flame cover! This features the earliest A-2 B-2 Matrix endings and the Earlist "1' to '1" Mothers stampers (Earliest for the best audio available on vinyl) This was only initially played a few times and then recorded to tape. It certainly looks only ever played a handful of times in my opinion, The album has always been stored in a case with the cover separated from the vinyl and sleeve for protection. This is how I have always stored my records!

The rarety and collectability about this album is that this vinyl is in near mint condition barely ever been played no more than a handful of times by me only from new just to record the album for you to hear in the player below, , very very rare and scarce to ever find after 40 years!
The original and correct 1st UK issue garrod & lofthouse gate fold cover is in exceptional condition,(with just light rubbing wear only) complete with the original insert lyric record sleeve. Note: I have fully play tested the vinyl and recorded this for you to hear for your self in the player below, At very loud volume prior to listing The audio is absolutely beautiful very clear and vibrant throughout without signs of any distortion what so ever,  I have graded the audio near mint as I heard it in my opinion! No Needle scratches or Marks that would cause any nasty loud constant clicks or pops!
Basically this album is a real beauty! You will not find a better sounding copy!
An Audio Archive Copy!

Street Survivors is the fifth studio album by Southern rock band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, released on October 17, 1977.

The LP is the last Skynyrd album recorded by original members Ronnie Van Zant and Allen Collins, and is the sole Skynyrd studio recording by guitarist Steve Gaines.

It is also the last album until a decade later in 1991.

Three days after the album's release, the band's chartered airplane crashed en route to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, killing the pilot, co-pilot, the group's assistant road-manager and three band members (Van Zant, Gaines, and Gaines' older sister, backup singer Cassie Gaines), and severely injuring most who survived the crash.

The album performed well on the charts, peaking at #5 (their first top 5 album), as did the singles "What's Your Name" and "That Smell".

The album was an instant success, achieving gold certification just ten days after its release. It would later go double platinum.

The album was recorded twice, once with Tom Dowd at the helm at Criteria Studios in Florida, and then at Studio One in Doraville, Georgia five months later.

The Doraville recording was used for the initial release of the album.

In March 2008, the album was re-issued with these alternate versions of most of the songs. Differences are minor on some songs, with the major difference being a much slower and extended earlier version of "That Smell." Also included are two songs recorded for, but not included on the original album, "Georgia Peaches," and "Sweet Little Missy," with the latter being included twice, in demo and final form.

Also included is a version of "Honky Tonk Night Time Man," with Ronnie's alternate autobiographical vocal take, entitled "Jacksonville Kid," which is believed to be the last vocal take he ever recorded in a studio.

The song "One More Time" was added to the album, presumably after it was decided to drop one of the two tracks above. However, this song is the original recording from their 1971 Muscle Shoals demo; it was not re-recorded for this album. Hence it features Ed King, Greg Walker and Rickey Medlocke in place of Steve Gaines, Leon Wilkeson and Artimus Pyle.

Street Survivors was a showcase for guitarist/vocalist Steve Gaines, who had joined the band just a year earlier on the recommendation of his sister Cassie. Publicly and privately, Ronnie Van Zant marvelled at the multiple talents of Skynyrd's newest member, claiming that the band would "all be in his shadow one day." Gaines' contributions included his co-lead vocal with Van Zant on the co-written "You Got That Right" and the guitar boogie "I Know A Little" which he had written before he joined Skynyrd. So confident was Skynyrd's leader of Gaines' abilities that the album (and some concerts) featured Gaines delivering his self-penned blues "Ain't No Good Life" - one of the few songs in the pre-crash Skynyrd catalog to feature a lead vocalist other than Ronnie Van Zant. The album also included the hit singles "What's Your Name" and the ominous "That Smell" - a cautionary tale about drug abuse that was clearly aimed at one of the band members (both Collins and Gary Rossington had serious car accidents which slowed the recording of the album).

Plane crash

1977 Convair CV-240 crash
On October 20, 1977, just three days after the release of Street Survivors, and five shows into their most successful headlining tour to date, Lynyrd Skynyrd's chartered Convair CV-300 ran out of fuel near the end of their flight from Greenville, South Carolina, where they had just performed at the Greenville Memorial Auditorium, to LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Though the pilots attempted an emergency landing on a small airstrip, the plane crashed in a forest in McComb, Mississippi. Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, Cassie Gaines, assistant road manager Dean Kilpatrick, pilot Walter McCreary and co-pilot William Gray were killed on impact; the other band members (Collins, Rossington, Wilkeson, Powell, Pyle, and Hawkins), tour manager Ron Eckerman and road crew suffered serious injuries.

Following the crash and the ensuing press, Street Survivors became the band's second platinum album and reached No. 5 on the U.S. album chart. The single "What's Your Name" reached No. 13 on the single airplay charts in January 1978.

The original cover sleeve for Street Survivors had featured a photograph of the band, particularly Steve Gaines, engulfed in flames. After the plane crash killed several band members, this cover became highly controversial. Out of respect for the deceased (and at the request of Teresa Gaines, Steve's widow), MCA Records withdrew the original cover and replaced it with a similar image of the band against a simple black background, which was on the back cover of the original sleeve

The Vinyl

The vinyl is of a substantial weight compared to later press which are much more flimsier! On initial inspection of the playing surface has retained its original sheen from new and indeed looks almost like it did the day that it came from the shop in my opinion, and lays perfectly flat on the turntable. (Please note! I have double checked this, no warping) This is free of any warping. I find it hard to see any real nasty surface marks or scratches), importantly No nasty needle scratches at least no real audio sounding marks or scratches to mention ,  No marks that would cause any loud clicks or pops during the audio that I heard! No Distortion Stunning Top Audio Quality! ( Hear for yourself in the player above) Any other marks that there could possibly be would be light whispy sleeve removal scuff type only.  (Looks almost like a new vinyl in my opinion)

Quite unbelievable to find after 40 years!

 The Audio Quality

I have played this vinyl two  times prior to listing, at very loud volume on a top system, This 40 year old vinyl plays through as good as a new vinyl would in my opinion! Just listen to the separation and the clarity! The audio is absolutely beautiful, crystal clear and very vibrant with that deep bassey feel that you get only found like this on these earliest originals! (Look Earlest "1" to "1" Mother stampers on both sides) I heard (no) loud clicks or pops during the audio and amazingly no real surface or background static during the audio and importantly no distortion or signs that this has been overplayed at all! There are Certainly no skips or jumps! Even in between tracks this is lovely, quite unbelievable to find like this after 40 years!  ,, This plays without the usual background surface noise that is so often heard on these early pressings.  Importantly No problems heard during the main audio at all) I also could not see any scratches or marks!   I would grade the audio near mint throughout!

An audiophile Audio archive copy never need to upgrade in my opinion!

Hear for your self in the player above, actual recording from the vinyl!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! I have given my honest opinion when describing the audio quality of this album and those who know the listings and vinyls that i sell my prime interest is the audio quality! Please allow for the odd isolated static crackle /tick/ticks , but nothing heard consistent  through out the audio! No Loud constant clicks or pops! This is a genuine (not) reissue vinyl that is 40 years old and would have been played on a system that is 40 years old! Audio like new in my opinion.

Please note, this album has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 45 years or more. A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static\ crackle. A constant clean before each play is recommended. This will reduce any static and will enhance the audio quality. Points to note, I notice debrit on the playing surface after play so this will need cleaning before each play which will further enhance this audio quality.

The Labels

This is the original black/silver/raibow MCA Records labels!  (correct for this 1977 pressing) A truly unique becoming scarce copy in lovely, barely played condition!

There is (no) spindle ware (the hole is perfectly round) see photo. In strong light there is just minimal spider trails around the spindle hole.   In my opinion this looks  barely played at all!

The Record Sleeve

This is the original 1st UK issue card type lyric record sleeve no edge splits or tears.  Features the correct cataloge number MG3525   The vinyl is always stored separately from the cover and record sleeve for protection. This is how I always store my records.

The Cover

This is the original 1st UK issue Garrod & Lofthouse Gate fold (WITHDRAWN FLAME) cover. Being primarily black at the rear and edges , these are hard to find in nice condition. There is no nasty creases on the cover worth to mention. Just minor rubbing wear at the spine and edges to mention only. Any indents/marks/ you have to look for to notice in my opinion. Note light rubbing is noted at the edges and corners at the spine ends also but not noticed unless looked for in my opinion. There is some rubbing wear slight vinyl impression rubbing noted at the rear worth to mention and light indents only.  The inside is nice and clean. All text is readable and no nasty handwriting or names written.   I would grade this cover at least better than excellent in my opinion.
