Another from my personal collection! Original 1st UK Pressing!  Features the earliest A-1U B-1U Matrix endings (Only 1st UK Pressings. (Later Pressings do not feature this and the vinyls are much more flimsier) Visually the vinyl looks barely ever played at all, and I can't see any needle scratches or audio sounding marks.  Absolutely stunning top audio on my systems very sharp and vibrant audio quality only heard like this on 1st UK pressings! Note: some interference was heard mainly on side 2 in absolute quiet places in the form of static crackle/ticks only (common on this album)  Also this could do with a contant cleaning before plays due to being stored in a case laying dormant for over 45 years. The 1st issue E.Day & co Cover is graded at excellent with general wear and tear in the form of rubbing/scuffing noted at the edges and spine!

Man are a rock band from South Wales whose style is a mixture of West Coast psychedelia, progressive rock and blues.

Formed in November 1968 as a reincarnation of Welsh rock harmony group 'The Bystanders', Man are renowned for the extended jams in their live performances.

Man evolved out of The Bystanders, a successful close harmony pop group from Merthyr Tydfil who played numerous club residencies in Wales, often playing several clubs a night. The Bystanders issued eight singles, including "98.6" (#45 in UK Singles Chart, in February 1967)

Man is the third studio album by the Welsh psychedelic/progressive rock band Man and was released March 1971.

It was the first album by this line-up, Terry Williams having replaced Jeff Jones on drums, while Martin Ace replaced Ray Williams on bass.

As well as a change in personnel, the album also represented a change in record label from Pye Records to United Artists (released under the UA stable "Liberty" imprint) with whom the band would remain until 1976.

Reviews were mixed, particularly regarding the long tracks "Would the Christians...." and "Alchemist" which were an attempt to recreate some of the longer improvised jams that the band performed on stage, but which did not have the same impact on vinyl.

The album contained three shorter tunes: "Country Girl" that showed a clash of direction but showcases some fine Welsh harmonies. "Daughter of the Fireplace", a Leonard-penned rocker, which became a stage favourite (and highlight of Man's 1972 live LP Live at the Padget Rooms, Penarth) while "Romain", a bluesy-shuffle, was written as a reaction to Martin Ace's treatment by a Belgian police officer of the same name when he attempted to intervene in a situation at a music festival; the song remains in the Man live set to the present day.

The vinyl

This is vinyl the original heavier and thicker type of vinyl (only earliest press) later press are much more flimsier and less robust.

This vinyl looks superb! Note: in strong light possible sleeve removal type scuffs/scratches might be seen only. Importantly,, No deep scratches or marks that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops.

The Audio

This was played on a top system at very loud volume prior to listing   The audio is very vibrant, cristal clear  with (no) distortion at all! (no) loud constant clicks or pops heard! (note: Please allow for isolated light static type crackle/ticks noted, heard on side two which has almost silent places, that may be heard in quiet places or in between some tracks Note: The vinyl has been laying dormant in a case for over 45 years and would need to have a constant cleaning before each play. Note Debrit was seen on the playing surface after play, indicating this. I would class myself as highly critical please look at my completed listing of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that I normally get it right! The audio is graded at least excellent to very near mint for the most part in my opinion.

Points to note! This album has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 45 years! A build up of dirt and dust over the years causes static ticks\crackle. A constant clean is recomended before each play. From my personal experiance this reduces static crackle/ticks and enhances the audio qaulity!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! I have described the audio quality as honest and as I heard it. Although i never heard any major problems other than prevoiously described, Please allow for the odd light static crackle\ticks here and there (not) consistant through out the audio! Please remember that this is a genuine 49 year old vinyl that would have originally have been played on a 49 year old system!

The labels

These are the 1st UK issued  Liberty/ UK  labels, Earliest press features "The Gramophone co....Black/ lables (Only 1st Press)  This has had minimal play only in my personal opinion. Amazingly barely a handful of  spidering can be seen when angled to the light around the spindle hole. Little if no spindle wear, the spindle hole is perfectly round and free of any wear.

The Record Sleeve

This is the plain white paper sleeve patented with made in England printed on one side. The vinyl has been seperated from the sleeve! Light fading/staining ands creasing with age only. The edges becomming fraging with age.

The Cover

This is the 1st UK issued UN LAMINATED, TEXTURED FRONT ONLY UK E.DAY&CO  Printed'' gatefold cover! There is some light general wear and tear scuffing and rubbing noted with age at the edges and spine to mention. (some text at the spine has been rubbed off.) The top edge is becomming frail with rubbing wear. The cover is generally straight and quite clean. There are no nasty names written. Overal this 47 year old cover is graded at excellent in my opinion.
