In this auction is an LP by BILLY PRESTON on the Beatles’ Apple Records Label.

But first, here’s some interesting trivia relating to Billy Preston with the Beatles for you:

·       George Harrison saw Billy Preston perform with the Ray Charles Band and enticed him to work for the Beatles on their Apple Records label.

·       Billy Preston’s best known performance was the afternoon he spent on the rooftop of the Apple building in London with the Beatles in what was to be their last concert that was filmed for “Let It Be”.

·       Preston was invited to join the Beatles’ recording sessions that yielded both the “Abbey Road” LP and the “Let It Be” LP.

·       The Beatles’ 1969 single “Get Back” is credited to “The Beatles With Billy Preston”. Of all the records that the Beatles produced, this was the ONLY SHARED LABEL CREDIT.

In this auction:

·        “THAT’S THE WAY GOD PLANNED ITby Billy Preston

·        This is Apple Records ST - 3370.

·       This LP was released September 10, 1969.

·       This is a STEREO LP.

·       THIS IS THE ORIGINAL FIRST COVER OF THIS LP with the close-up of Billy Preston’s face/head covering most of the cover. The replacement second cover, which is much more common, has 4 images of Billy Preston in a purple suit walking.

·       This LP was produced by George Harrison.

·       This ORIGINAL FIRST COVER has become really tough to find these days!!

·       The COVER is in Strong VG to Weak VG+ Condition. The cover has light to moderate overall wear including some cracking on the spine (with no paper loss) and some worn areas on the bottom edge at the bottom left and right corners, and there is some wear on those corners. The dark front cover slick, which was prone to show wear very easily, makes this a VERY tough cover to find without significant wear on it.

·       The VINYL is in VERY STRONG VG to VG+ CONDITION with a few light surface hairlines/scuffs. The initials “JWP” are written in ballpoint on the sliced-apple label, there is slight rippling on the edge of that label. “Mfd. by Apple” is in the rim printing on the sliced-apple label. According to the Price Guide for the Beatles American Records, this is the correct vinyl issued with first covers of this LP.

Here’s your opportunity to acquire this LP of BILLY PRESTON’S “That’s The Way God Planned It”, with its ORIGINAL FIRST COVER that was released on the Beatles’ Apple Records label!!!
