Another from my personal collection. Purchased from new in 1970 and initially played only a few times, then recorded to tape and stored in a case with the vinyl seperated from the cover for protection, this is how I have always stored my records!
This is the most sought after album being Black Widows debut album and the 1st UK pressing!
There are no visable audio sounding marks or scratches that I can see at all! The audio is superbe throughout and plays through clear and very vibrant with just isolated, light static crackle heard in between tracks only and perhaps the odd quiet place which in my opinion could do with a good clean before each play, caused from laying dormant for over 40 years, but the audio is truly stunning throughout! The original E.Day gatefold is also truly superbe just light edge rubbing only, See below for full description!

One of the best sounding copies that I have heard!

Very rare and collectable in this exceptional condition after 45 years Near Mint vinyl/audio Archive Final upgrade copy!

Sacrifice is the debut album by English rock band Black Widow.

It was issued in March 1970 through CBS Records and was produced by Patrick Meehan Jr. The album features the band's best known song "Come to the Sabbat" and its lyrical themes are centred on Satanism and occultism.

Sacrifice reached No. 32 on the UK Albums Chart.

Black Widow were a rock band that formed in Leicester, England in September 1969.

The band were mostly known for its early use of satanic and occult imagery in their music and stage act.

The band were often confused with the better-known heavy metal band Black Sabbath, but the bands were only superficially similar!

The band originally formed in 1966 as Pesky Gee! with Kay Garrett (lead vocals), Kip Trevor (lead vocals, guitar and harmonica), Chris Dredge (guitar), Bob Bond (bass guitar), Clive Box (drums and piano), Jess "Zoot" Taylor (organ), Clive Jones (saxophone and flute). Jim Gannon (guitar, vocals and vibes), replaced Dredge in Spring 1969. The band split in September 1969.

The band released one album for Pye Records as Pesky Gee!, 1969's Exclamation Mark, before Garrett left the band.

The remaining band members continued on as Black Widow and released this album listed for sale, their debut album Sacrifice in 1970!

Perhaps better known than their music was the band's use of occult references in their music and their live performances, which were made more controversial with the mock sacrifice of a nude womanThese acts at time were very shocking but now a common use in the underground music scene, black metal. The band attracted further controversy by consulting infamous witch Alex Sanders for advice!!.

Controversy aside, Sacrifice reached #32 on the UK Albums Chart!!

The Vinyl

This is the original earliest  type of vinyl with deeper grooves (only found like this on the original 1st  UK pressings) The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free of any warping! Unbeleivable 49 years old!

On initial inspection the vinyls playing surface looks absolutely stunnining, super glossy sheen retained from new, and it is hard to see a blemish on the playing surface! It is quite obvious that this vinyl has barely ever been played In fact when I originally purchased this album from new, over 49 years ago, I probably only played this about  six to ten  times and then stored in a case for most of the rest of the time!! Only in strong light could possibly any sleeve removal marks possibly be seen only (non audio sounding on my system)

The Audio Quality

I have played this vinyl track for track one time only, at very loud volume on a top system ! The audio is almost as good as it gets in any format in my personal opinion very near perfect on my system, just minor static heard in between tracks caused mainly by dirt and dust in the grooves from laying dormant only! Cristal clear and very very vibrant indeed! Please note!  Certainly the most sought after and incredibly rare to ever find in this awesome top top condition! The vinyl and audio is graded as very near mint the best that you will ever find! Please do not underestemate the rarety of this album like this, The best sounding copy that I have ever heard!! (no) loud clicks or pops  If I was to be highly critical this vinyl could do with a constant clean before each play because I have noticed debrit on the playing surface after play which cause some static! Please note dirt and dust in the grooves from laying dormant for ove 40 years in a cases, causes the odd static crackle, a constant clean before each play will reduce this and enhance the audio quality.

It is important to note that even in between tracks this is exceptionaly quiet, almost impossible to find like this after 40 years beleive me!.

Please note I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd static perhaps heard in isolated quiet places only, (not) consistant throughout the audio! Please remember that this is a genuine 49 year old vinyl that would have originally been played on a 49 year old system!

The Labels

These are the 1st issue CBS (TEXTURED ) stereo labels! These are awesome! Very few spider marks only can be seen angled to the light this illiterates that this has only been played a minimal amount of times only and also only ever played on a top system, in those days it would have been my Bang & Olfsen turn table! Try to find anything like this after 49 years! Unbeleivable!!

The Record Sleeve

This is the original CBS advertising serpier paper sleeve, patented with light creasing with age only (no) splits or tares!.

The cover

This is the 1st issue E.Day & co (London) unlaminated gatefold cover! Very hard to find these in decent condition! Being primarily black these are very prone to rubbing wear. Amaizingly (No) real creases to mention, just very light general rubbing on this cover and at the edges and spine only really noticable if looked for . !  No splits or tares and (no) real major storageware worth to mention!  This top copy must grade at least better than excellent in my opinion!
