· “SOMETHING NEW” LP by the Beatles
· This LP is Capitol Records ST - 2108.
· This is a STEREO PRESSING.
· This LP was originally issued was issued July 20, 1964.
· This is not a 1st Stereo pressing. It is an East Coast Stereo pressing that was issued later in 1964. We know this because the German translator’s name is correctly spelled as “Nicolas” instead of “Nicholas” in the label credits. (1st Pressings have the misspelled “Nicholas”.)
· According to Perry Cox, this LP was pressed at Capitol Records’ Scranton plant based on the number “3” printed on the rear cover at lower right.
· The VINYL has the “△” in the trail-off wax. This is the symbol Capitol Records used to identify vinyl pressed at its Scranton Pressing Plant.
· Therefore, this #3 Scranton cover and Scranton vinyl are correctly paired/matched.
· NOTE: Some sellers may intentionally or accidentally switch vinyl and covers in order to create an LP with a higher grade cover and vinyl combination, but NOT correctly matched to the same pressing plant. I don’t do that. This is the correct cover and vinyl for this pressing/issue.
· The COVER is graded VERY STRONG VG+ to WEAK NEAR MINT MINUS. It is still in its ORIGINAL SHRINK WRAP. There is a 4-inch X 5-inch irregularly-shaped piece of shrink wrap missing at the top left corner on the rear. The rear cover has some light to moderate aging/foxing near the opening (which is why the cover is not graded Near Mint). A piece of clear scotch tape is on the shrink wrap at the bottom right corner where the shrink wrap split about 2 inches. There is a very tiny push on the lower right corner.
· This primarily black cover is a really tough cover to find without wear. It was prone to show wear very easily and is often found with such wear. However, this one has VERY MINIMAL WEAR and been well-protected by the shrink wrap over the past 50+ years! The seams and spine are perfect!!
· The VINYL is GRADED VERY STRONG VG CONDITION. There are light surface hairlines/scuffs but none are “feelable”. The vinyl has NICE GLOSS.
· The vinyl also comes with its ORIGINAL BLUE CAPITOL RECORDS INNER PAPER SLEEVE which is the correct sleeve for this LP.
