INTRODUCING CARL PERKINS - RARE Mono Pressing on Dootone DL 211- LeRoy Vinnegar INTRODUCING CARL PERKINS - RARE Mono Pressing on Dootone DL 211- LeRoy Vinnegar Description
Offered is a quite rare pressing of Introducing Carl Perkins, on Dootone Label DL 211 / LPM 20.
This one is not a reissue - it is the First Mono Pressing original on heavy vinyl from 1956.
It is from a collection from a former Navy pilot who spent time in Japan during the 1950's. From the back cover and label photos in our Gallery, you can see the reference to "Japan Sales Co., LTD. Tokyo." My guess is that this was a distributor of consumer goods made available at what was called "The P.X." on military bases.
In his collection, our pilot had a number of record pressings from the 1950's that had different references to Japan, and since there is precious little information available on any of these particular releases, it is hard to know if they were pressed in the United States for distribution in Japan, or pressed in Japan.
In any event, we have listed the actual deadwax matrix from both sides below.
The record is in quite nice EX condition, with the cover at EX+.
This particular album was the Debut Release for Carl Perkins - in fact it was his only album as Carl passed away at the young age of 29 less than 2 years later.
Wikipedia (currently banned in China can you believe it) has a fabulous write-up about the multi-talented Carl Perkins. If you go to the Wikipedia site - copy

and paste it into the search box.
