Michael Jackson - Thriller (Promo) Gatefold / 1982 World Club Flyer / Inner Dust Sleeve with Picture and Lyrics
Condition is Used. Shipped with USPS Media Mail.
Hello, thanks for looking. I'm no expert on grading vinyl, i'll try my best to evaluate the condition of both the cover and the album. I'll use the grading scale below as a guide and i'll be very conservative with my evaluation.
You are bidding on a used copy of Michael Jackson's album "Thriller". As far as I know, this is the original US pressing. As you can see in the pictures of the back album cover, Michael Jacksons name does NOT appear in the credits as a co producer. You'll also see that this album was deemed "for promotional use only" by CBS, as per the stamp over the barcode. On top of that, there is a rare flyer / insert for a "Special Michael Jackson Offer" "Jacksons Exclusive World Club" . I'll get to the condition of the album below, but if you need more photo's or have and questions I encourage you to please message me.
CONDITION:
The Jacket / Sleeve: I'm hoping the pictures can speak for the grade, i'd say its a VG (maybe VG+). Its still Solid, and still very stiff, Has NO Seam Splitting, No writing anywhere, No bends but a few tiny creases, No cut-out (drill) holes, No cut-out corners, No saw-marks or indents, The corners are in good shape but there's a little wear and rounding which you can see in the pictures, The Front and Back both have friction marks or burn caused by rubbing against other covers. The back has far more than the front (the pictures will show this), Very Little record ring, No yellowing from aging, No stickers, No tape, No water damage. The spine is in good shape and the print is centered & legible. The Inner Gatefold is in great condition, the picture is very clear and has no record ring or burn.
Inner Paper Sleeve: It's the original inner paper record dust sleeve, with lyrics and drawings by Michael Jackson. The lyrics and drawings are in perfect condition but there was some seam splitting (please see the photo), about 3 inches. The paper itself is clean and flat, no marks or creases.
*** The flyer is in great shape just a little bent on the top, but over all clean and flat***
The vinyl: I’d have say this record between VG+ to EX. The record looks great, few minor surface scratches but looks very clean, Minimal wear. Both A and B side labels are in great condition too.
Like I said earlier, I'm hoping the picture's can show the condition of the album. If they didn't, I hope I did a good job describing the flaws and condition of everything. Please contact me with any questions. I appreciate your interest and thank you for looking.
All records are shipped with USPS media mail, properly packed in a 12" cardboard record mailer (with the record out of the jacket).
Grading Scale
Mint (M): Perfect, unused in sealed original packaging.
Near-Mint (NM): Close to perfect with no visible scratches or scuffs. Appears to be un-played or played less than 5 times.
Excellent (EX): May contain very light surface scratches and/or scuffs. Label and jacket may show slight signs of ring-wear / lightly bent corners. No creases, writing, tears or rips.
Very Good Plus (VG+): May show some signs that it was played and handled by a previous owner who took reasonably good care of it. Imperfections are cosmetic and do not drastically impact the playback. Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs and surface scratches. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are ok. The label and jacket may have some slight ring ring-wear, discoloration, minor tears and imperfections. As with most vinyl, there may be low-level surface noise and light crackles and pops may be present, especially during quiet or soft passages in the track.
Very Good (VG): Many of the imperfections found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG record or sleeve.
Good (G) - It doesn't mean the record is "Trashed" but its definitely been played a lot. I'll mainly use this for jackets and inner sleeves (if the record is worth selling).
Fair (F) Poor (P): I do not sell Poor (P), Fair (F). If I use these it's because the album is super rare.
Disclaimer : I’m really new at selling on E-bay so please excuse my inexperience and lack of knowledge when it comes to collecting and selling vinyl. I do not grade LPs and I am not an expert on classification. Most of the vinyl I own, I bought in bulk at yard sales or estate sales. Ask Me Questions before bidding! Please understand, I’m grading my LPs on a visual estimation. Keep that in mind, because if you bid or buy this album, i’m selling it as is! Therefore All Sales Are Final! If you’re really interested in this LP and you think the description / photo’s are missing something… Message Me! Ask questions, I will answer honestly, I will send more photo’s, maybe even a video if you want. I'm not trying to scare away a potential customer, I'm just saying, please consider everything I said before asking for a refund. Look, there is some risk when buying used 20 - 60 year old, pre owned, vinyl… together we can cut down on that risk even eliminate it! Thanks for looking!!!
