Aloha from Hawaii ~ CPD2-2642 - ULTRA RARE Tan Label
Label: TAN
Vinyl: VG+/-
Cover: VG+
Hollywood Pressing
Further Details
The Tan Label version of this record is extremely rare and difficult to find. Check your collections to see if you have it or not. This record is a little bit below VG+ with some marks and streaks; however, it also visually looks to be better than VG, so I am rating it between the two and calling it VG+/–
Items of Note
This is the third iteration of this record. The initial issue – VSPX-6089 released in February 1973 – was followed by the record club issue R-213736 later that year. This CPD2 catalog version followed two years later in 1975, and is typically found on the orange quadradisc label and the black DNT label. The record was re-cataloged once again in 1984 as CPL2-2642.
The Tan label is common on the R-213736 catalog version, but is EXTREMEMLY RARE and elusive with the CPD2 catalog label (and does not exist on the VSPX version). In my opinion, this is one of the rarest of all Elvis records. After checking your collection, it is very likely you will find that this record will fill a gap for you 😊.
This concert was the first ever world-wide broadcast of a television show via satellite. The concert itself took place on January 14, 1973. Later that same day, the Miami Dolphins completed their perfect 17-0 season by defeating the Washington Redskins 14-7 in Super Bowl VII. The concert did not air live in the U.S., and was instead delayed until April 4, 1973.
A Little About Me
I first became an Elvis fan in the fall of 1976 and received my first Elvis record for Christmas that year (from my uncle – it was a tan label “Live at Madison Square Garden” because my uncle liked the song “Never Been to Spain”). I am selling some of the records from my collection in hopes that they may bring as much joy to other Elvis fans and collectors as they have to me.
Packaging & Shipping
All records are shipped via media mail in cardboard record mailers designed specifically to ship records safely and securely. Records will be shipped outside their covers to prevent any potential seam splits from developing in transit.
I will gladly combine shipping for multiple wins. In that case, please wait for an invoice before paying.
