Please do not be put off by my lack of feedback ratings on this Ebay account. I have been selling vinyl for over 20 years, but have just started using this account as a secondary account which I will use to sell items for others. My other account is used by members of my family to buy stuff, so if I need something secret, presents, gifts etc I use this account. Regular buyers of vinyl records may recognise my other account, which has my username as floyd67-10.
For sale here is a 1st UK pressing of one of Pink Floyds most iconic albums "Wish you were here". The matrix numbers are A1/B3. There are not too many UK first pressings of this album that come up for sale that has both sides displaying the first matrix numbers and FIRST mothers, but this has the mother "1" to both sides. A really early first pressing. The audio performance of "Wish" is so often littered with noise and other detracting features, but this copy plays really well and a testament to its very early pressing. as I will describe below.
From a collection of a friend who has decided he wants to free up some space in his cupboards from the 2000 plus albums he currently owns. I have sifted through some of them and currently am concentrating on the Pink Floyd section. My friend is a bit of a Floyd fanatic and bought most of his albums in the week of release, if not day of release. I am currently selling a handful of Floyd first UK pressings from his personal collection, so please check out my other listings for some real beauties on offer.
The cover is a cream colour, not white. It has some dirtying from age, but is still a solid example. It has some light creasing and general handling marks. No shelf-wear but light wear to the spine which has obscured part of the title print. Sounds worse than it is! Strictly to record collector guidelines this grades VG+.
The inner sleeve is in pretty perfect clean condition. NO slits to sides or bottom from the disc edges. Has the cropped corners as per first press issue and is the much more rare "side opener" as opposed to the top opener. Very clean. Cannot fault it at all, grades Ex+.
The postcard is in fantastic condition. No marks, rips or tears. Very very clean and a really nice example. This one grades as Ex+.
Now for the vinyl. Still a lovely looking copy visually. The disc retains a nice black sheen. Visually this is lovely, but a play grade can reveal all sorts!
PLAY-GRADE:- Firstly, Floyd albums have so many very quiet and almost silent passages, it is nigh on impossible not to find a little something here and there. This is a cracking piece of vinyl. The notes from my "listening boo" tell me that when I listened to it I found the following issues. During side one there is the odd bit of background vinyl noise, evident only in the very quietest passages. There are 2 soft "ticks" as the stylus goes into the run out of side 1. Side 2 plays superbly well. It is really quiet and so unusual for a copy of "WYWH". This is really quite a musical album, unlike "DSOTM" which although I love it, is a little more whimsical than musical. Strictly to record collector guidelines, I Grade side 1 as VG+ and side 2 as Ex.
If you have any questions at all, just ask. I will describe any part, take any photos, or whatever. I believe in a private communication I can send 5 photos directly.
I will NOT sell to Russia or any of its allies. If you bid on this collection your bid will be cancelled, so please, JUST DO NOT BOTHER.
I have opted to show the price for first class signed for postage with the Royal Mail. The cost shown (£5.05) is exactly what it costs me. Unfortunately Royal Mail have just increased their prices YET again! I do not profit on postage costs. My packaging is absolutely second to none, and will be reinforced to hell, so be assured it will reach you just fine. Postage overseas will be through the Global Shipping Programme.
ALL THE ALBUMS I SELL WILL ARRIVE IN A NEW ANTI-STATIC INNER SLEEVE, HEAVY DUTY POLY OUTER COVER AND VINYL SEPERATED FROM THE COVER FOR TRANSIT.
Good luck if you decide to bid on this fantastic genuine earliest UK 1st press of one of the all time great albums that should be in every collection. This particular album would indeed grace any collection.
