In this auction:

MEET THE BEATLES” LP by The Beatles

This LP is Capitol Records T 2047.

This is a MONO (Monaural) LP.

The Cover is a Capitol-marked cover with “Capitol” on the front cover, rear cover and spine.

The LP in this auction was produced at Capitol Records’ Scranton Pressing Plant, because the number “2” printed on the rear cover at lower right.

The VINYL has a triangle “” in the trail-off wax which is the symbol Capitol Records used to identify vinyl pressed at its Scranton Pressing Plant. So, this is the correct vinyl for this cover with the #2 on the cover and the “” in the dead wax.

I am unable to identify which MONO PRESSING this is. The first two songs on Side 1 are credited to BMI, and all of the remaining songs on Side 1 and all of the songs on Side 2 are credited to ASCAP. The Price Guide for the Beatles American Records. 6th Edition by Perry Cox and Frank Daniels does NOT list this label variation; however the Bruce Spizer book on Capitol Records issues identifies this variation as CAP2047 MR3A; however, the Spizer book does not identify which covers were issued with each pressing (ie: “BEATLES” in tan or brown and cover with or without the George Martin credit printed on the rear under the liner notes)like the Cox and Edwards Price Guide does.

The COVER has “BEATLESin brown print and does not have the George Martin credit printed at the bottom of the rear cover. The Spizer book does not identify which covers were issued with each pressing (ie: “BEATLES” in tan or brown and cover with or without the George Martin credit) like the Cox and Edwards Price Guide does.

The COVER is in NICE VG+ CONDITION. There is light overall wear. There is light wear on the two bottom corners. The primarily white rear cover has very light aging/foxing, and there is a name and address stamped in blue ink at the top center of the rear cover. The spine and top and bottom seams are strong with NO cracking or flaking.

The VINYL is in VERY STRONG VG to WEAK VG+ CONDITION with very light/slight surface hairlines/scuffs (none at all “feel-able”) and Lots of Gloss.

This record comes with what I believe is its ORIGINAL and CORRECT BLUE CAPITOL RECORDS INNER PAPER SLEEVE.

Thanks to the Price Guide for the Beatles American Record, 6th Edition by Perry Cox and Frank Daniels and to Bruce Spizer’s The Beatles Story on Capitol Records, Part 2 for some information about this LP.
