Soundtrack to both “The Lost Boys” and the epitome of the eighties, this 10 track rock powerhouse yields a vivid throwback to the film and time. “The Lost Boys” was definitive of eighties youth and upon release, it sparked attitude in teens everywhere. Even viewing it almost thirty years later, I walked away a bit more smug and edgy. After all this time, it still stands as an icon for vampires, metal and seduction. 

Playing a huge role in the “The Lost Boys" was its soundtrack. The films impact is amplified by the anthemic rock n roll songs - they lend electric energy to scenes and embody the style of the film. The soundtrack is cohesive and the songs compliment the films bold themes of humour, horror and metal.

The soundtrack packs at lot of punch. With a collaborative effort from INXS and Jimmy Barnes on “Good Times,” an iconic scene with Tim Cappello’s “I Still Believe,” a cover of The Doors from Echo and The Bunnymen on “People are strange,” and more, this sound track has clearly been carefully curated. The theme song which was written before Gerard McMann had even seen the film is chilling, the gothic sounds couldn’t be more fitting. 

All films get character from their soundtracks, they would lose a great deal of depth without them, and “The Lost Boys” is no exception. Electrifying rock n roll charges the scenes and rebellious tunes lend to the attitude. The soundtrack boasts sounds synonymous with the eighties and features a beloved lineup of artists, it isn’t one to be forgotten.
