Hi! You're looking at an excellent condition vinyl LP which is a FIRST PRESSING of the classic self-titled second album (sometimes referred to as "The Brown Album") by THE BAND, featuring the late ROBBIE ROBERTSON on guitar, RICHARD MANUEL on vocals, piano, drums, baritone saxophone and mouth harp, LEVON HELM on vocals, drums, mandolin, and guitar, RICK DANKO on vocals, bass, violin and trombone, and GARTH HUDSON on organ, clavinette, piano, accordion, saxophones and slide trumpet, with co-producer JOHN SIMON on tuba, electric piano, and peck horns. This LP includes many of The Band's most beloved songs, including "Across the Great Divide," "Rag Mama Rag," "The Night they Drove Old Dixie Down," "Up on Cripple Creek," "The Unfaithful Servant" and "King Harvest (Has Surely Come)" by ROBBIE ROBERTSON and "When You Awake" and "Whispering Pines" by RICHARD MANUEL and ROBBIE ROBERTSON. The LP is a Capitol Records issue with the serial number STAO-132, is a 1st PRESSING made at the Scranton pressing plant with the original lime green Capitol Records label and "RL" in the runout grooves indicating that it was mastered by ROBERT LUDWIG--it was made in the United States in 1969.
This LP is in excellent condition and the vinyl is in VG++ overall condition and plays extremely well, with a small scratch that produces some light pops for a portion of the second track ("Rockin' Chair") and the first part of the third track ("Look Out Cleveland"), some slight hairline marks and some paper scuffs that do not otherwise significantly affect play except for a few light and scattered pops in a couple of places (THIS LP HAS BEEN SOUND-GRADED IN ITS ENTIRETY and sounds fantastic for the most part, with amazing sound reproduction); the deluxe textured gatefold cover is in NEAR MINT- (Ex) condition with light dings on the spine tips and slight dings on the opening tips, a tiny abrasion on the lower spine end, a couple of slight dings on the edges and just very slight shelfwear with beautiful surfaces and NO splits and NO other significant flaws--it's NOT a cutout! The original plain white inner sleeve is also included.
Please Note: I CAN ship records outside of the United States but will need to get a weight estimate based on the final PACKAGED weight for this record--I cannot ship for the $4.00 U.S. Media Rate and the quoted International Shipping Rate may differ from the final shipping rate due to packaged weight differences so please wait to make payment until a final invoice is received. Thanks!
Vinyl Grading Standards (unless otherwise indicated, LPs are visually graded)
Mint (or M) – Sealed and effectively perfect with no signs of wear or ever having been played.
Near Mint -- A record with only the slightest evidence of ever having been handled.
Very Good Plus Plus (VG++) A very clean record that has no marks aside from slight scuffs and abrasions caused by removal from a paper inner sleeve or perhaps a few marks on the label caused by a turntable spindle.
Very Good Plus (VG+) A record that has had a number of plays and may have some superficial scuffs, possibly mild to moderate spindle marks and / or possibly hairline scratches on the vinyl, which may produce some intermittent pops and possibly very light background noise.
Very Good (VG) A record that has generally been well cared for, but has seen a fair amount of play, with some scuffing. hairline scratches, spindle marks and / or light scratches. Should play through well, with the possibility of more pops and more background noise.
Very Good Minus (VG-) A record with significant scuffs, scratches, and spindle marks that should play through with moderate pops and surface noise, possibly of some duration.
Good (G) A record with will play through, but with significant pops, substantial background noise, and possibly intermittent skipping.
Poor (P) A record with MAJOR issues that will interfere with play, and will possibly be unplayable in part due to damage (I'll only offer an LP in this condition if it's an extreme rarity and / or for cover art display purposes).
