Kill Bill: Vol. 1 - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack LP Vinyl Record
The first film in six years from acclaimed writer-director Quentin Tarantino, "Kill Bill Vol. 1" sees music play a major role, as with all Tarantino films. A martial arts flick about an assassin who seeks revenge, has The RZA from the multiplatinum-selling Wu-Tang Clan taking centerstage, surrounded by the sort of vintage, quirky tracks that made the soundtracks to Tarantino films such as Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown such fan favourites.
Kickstarting with Nancy Sinatra's torchy "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)" and Charlie Feathers' tough, swaggering rockabilly chestnut "That Certain Female,” the mood and story are set. This soundtrack is is devoted primarily to instrumental pieces that range from surging epics to the calm kitsch of Zamfir's "The Lonely Shepherd," to the intense funk pastiche of Tomoyasu Hotei's "Battle Without Honor or Humanity."
The reduced presence of dialogue from the film -- a hallmark of Tarantino soundtracks -- is a reflection of “Kill Bill: Vol. 1," which places emphasis on action and visuals. Even the songs on the soundtrack feature minimal lyrics, consisting largely of instrumentals. This sound track is a cavalcade of contradictory moods with its own coherence, and it's more musical than most pop music soundtracks. With no familiar material, nor anything that would be a single on digital radio, this sound track works as an album on its own. It doesn't just reflect the movie, it follows its own logic and displays fearless imagination.

Staff Review:
Through his works, Quentin Tarantino has become of the most quintessential directors in popular culture. His 2003 film “Kill Bill Vol.1” was released to widespread acclaim and is hailed a cinematic masterpiece. Standing as both my favourite of Tarantino's works and quite possibly one of my all time favourite films, a major contributing factor to my love of the film is its soundtrack. Instantly recognisable and impressively diverse, this soundtrack boasts a stellar lineup of artists who, through both originals and carefully selected feature tracks, offer songs that strengthen the film's atmosphere and themes.
Prominent in almost every major scene of "Kill Bill Vol.1," the films soundtrack helps to set both the scene and atmosphere. With everything from country music to funk, jazz to soul, hip hop to rap and the various worldly, orchestral scores alongside the theme songs of "Twisted Nerve" and "The Green Hornet," the film uses a diverse song selection to immerse its viewer in the various cultural influences for each of the Bride’s foes.
My favourite scene from “Kill Bill Vol.1" is the fight sequence between the Bride and the Crazy 88’s. This well choreographed and incredibly gory martial art fighting scene is supported by RZA’s electronic hip hop beat “Crane” and Charles Bernstein’s eery, orchestral “White Lightning.” While there are many moments of silence during this fight, when the music is present, it adds emphasis to the intensity and thrill of the sequence.
Equal parts fitting and memorable, the soundtrack to Quentin Tarantino’s “Kill Bill Vol. 1” is one of well curated, diverse and impressive compositions. A timeless tale of revenge, the “Kill Bill” movies are ones that I will appreciate for years to come and right by their side will always be this unforgettable soundtrack.
