We are thrilled and honoured to be offering for sale a number of items from the late Stan Tracey's own personal collection on behalf of his son Clark Tracey. This includes many extremely rare albums, some purchased by Stan during his time in New York, plus test pressings and other gems collected over his lifetime as a musician and composer.
An extremely rare US 1st Press mono copy of Thelonious Monk Septet - Monk's Music. Released in November 1957 on the white Riverside DG label with blue text, Bill Grauer Productions ( no inc.) NYC - see photos.
Degritter cleaned, the heavyweight vinyl is spotlessly clean & retains a very good sheen for the age with some light scuffs and hairlines but no feelable damage. Clean labels with light spindle trails. Graded VG.
Playtest revealed a beautiful & vibrant mono sound. For the age it plays through really well with no jumping or sticking.
The outer sleeve is not in such good condition. The laminated front is pretty much intact but the spine has almost completely worn away and split through in the middle. Heavy wear to the top seam and a 10cm split to the bottom seam at the opening end. The rear is still intact & legible but stained/age discoloured & soiled ( see photos).
The original paper inner sleeve is present, however we have decanted the record into a brand new poly lined inner sleeve to preserve it - you will receive both.
The record will be sent separated out in an archival outer sleeve to prevent transit splits.
We have taken lots of photos in good natural daylight so you can see exactly what you are buying. Please take a moment to look at the photos as they form part of the description. We are pleased to answer any questions you may have.
Selling many other jazz vinyl rarities on separate listings including other items from The Stan Tracey Collection. Much more to be listed over the coming weeks so why not add us to your favourite sellers?
International buyers... Are welcome from most parts of the world. We will only send via International Tracked and Signed and charge a flat rate of £20. Be aware there may be additional taxes and charges imposed by Ebay - please do your research before buying!
