The sextet tracks with Sonny Rollins and Bennie Green were the first recordings Miles made after his affiliation with Capitol ended, a hiatus of approximately ten months. It began a long and fruitful association with Prestige, first in all-star contexts and, later, with the first of his regular quintets. Miles was battling personal problems in this period and also was not in favor with the critics. Some of them still thought of his tone and style as “a man walking on egg shells,” when, in reality, he was into a more popping,burning attack. The 1953 tracks with Al Cohn and Zoot Sims (all compositions by Cohn) are in a more laid-back groove, striking a balance between the Capitol nonet and the fierce swing of the “Blue ‘n’ Boogie” with J.J. Johnson and Lucky Thompson to come in 1954. With Sonny Truitt, Al Cohn, Zoot Sims, John Lewis, Leonard Gaskin, Kenny Clarke, Bennie Green, Sonny Rollins, Percy Heath, Roy Haynes.

Shipping

At City Hall Records we understand that you want your LPs to arrive in the same condition they're described.  So, we pack them carefully in a cardboard mailer, insulated with thick cardboard pads on each side, and with reinforcement on the corners. We want to be sure you get your LPs in the same condition in which they leave our warehouse. 

We've shipped hundreds of LPs to eBay buyers and have had no complaints about their condition. Here's how we pack:

Quality Control

Since all of our items are factory sealed we will not be responsible for an item's condition unless (you ask us to) inspect it.  Even though incorrect, defective or damaged product is very rare, we highly recommend that you allow us to inspect your item before we ship it out.  Just let us know by writing INSPECT in the note to seller box when paying via PayPal.

 

If there is something wrong with your record that could only have been seen by such inspection, and you did not request it, we will not be responsible for it.

Also, many LP buyers prefer to have the disc shipped outside the jacket to minimize damage to the jacket.  If you have requested that we inspect the disc, then we'll pack it outside the jacket.

 

Insurance

Like all eBay sellers, we're required to ensure that every shipment reaches the buyer in good condition. For that reason every eBay seller is self-insuring, and must build that cost into their selling price and/or shipping/handling fees. Nevertheless, if you wish to buy your own insurance, you may. Simply ask us to include insurance prior to payment.
