For sale - from my personal collection - the following 2LP set titled:

"ECHOES OF A ROCK ERA-THE GROUPS"

featuring the vocal groups from the 50's-early 60's era:

- THE HEARTBEATS (on record no. 1)

- SHEP AND THE LIMELITES (on record no.2)

original 1972 pressing on Roulette Records, catalog no. RE-115, STEREO, gatefold cover, made in USA. Duplicate copy from my collection (I kept the open set for myself).

CONDITION:

- factory SEALED (loose cello at the bottom edge plus a few inches on the opening; the two records never removed or played).

PERSONNEL:

The Heartbeats (doo wop vocal quartet mainly active in the 50's and early 60's) plus Shep and The Limelites (doo wop-R&B vocal quintet mainly active in the 50's and early 60's). Featuring JAMES SHEPPARD in both groups as lead vocal and songwriter (1936-1970; Shep being short from Sheppard in the Limelites group).

MUSIC & COMMENTS:

doo wop with occasional blues and early R&B-jive rock elements with emphasis on vocals throughout. Mostly on the mellow-ballad style rendition. Both albums contain these two groups' finest recordings made in the 50's and early 60's. 12 tracks for The Heartbeats (featuring their biggest hits "A thousand miles away" and "One million years"), 12 tracks for Shep and The Limelites (featuring their biggest hits "Daddy's home" and "Our anniversary"). 22 tracks written by James Sheppard. The Heartbeats plus Shep & The Limelites are considered two of the finest doo wop-R&B vocal groups from the history out of over 200 similar groups active in the 50's-60's era. High quality 50's music featuring spectacular vocals, especially on lead by James Sheppard. Rare set, the second I've ever seen. A collector's item, highly recommended!
