The Beatles is the ninth official album by English rock group the Beatles, a double album released in 1968. It is also commonly known as "The White Album", as it has no graphics or text other than the band's name embossed (and, on the early LP and CD releases, a serial number) on its plain white sleeve.

The album was written and recorded during a period of turmoil for the group, after visiting the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in India and having a particularly productive songwriting session in early 1968. Returning to the studio, the group recorded from May to October 1968, only to have conflict and dissent drive the group members apart. Ringo Starr quit the band for a brief time, leaving Paul McCartney to play drums on two tracks. Many of the songs were "solo" recordings, or at least by less than the full group, as each individual member began to explore his own talent.

Though not formally credited on the album, Eric Clapton played lead guitar on Harrison's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps".Harrison explains in The Beatles Anthology that Clapton's presence temporarily alleviated the studio tension and that all band members were on their best behaviour during his time with the band in the studio.

HIDDEN TRACK "Can You Take Me Back", a short McCartney song, appears in between "Cry Baby Cry" and "Revolution 9".

 

The VINYL is in VG++ condition. (some visible hairlines which do not affect play at all)

 

The LAMINATED EMBOSSED GATEFOLD SLEEVE is in EX condition. (some shelfwear , See Photos)

All records are professionally cleaned using a MOTH cleaning system prior to despatch. Not only does this wet clean/vacuuming process remove surface marks such as fingerprints, etc, it also significantly reduces background noise and many argue that the lower noise floor results in opening up of the sound and improved fidelity.

 

A word about hairline marks. It is almost impossible to find any non-sealed record without any hairline marks - many had them from new, particularly if sold with cardboard inner sleeves. They are a result of storage and use and have little impact on sound quality.

 

I package my records in the strongest purpose made mailers for maximum safety.

 

All records are removed from their picture sleeves where appropriate and posted in a separate plain white inner to avoid damage during transit.

 

The following is the scale I use to grade my records , please buy with confidence.

 

MINT:

 

The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks

or deterioration in sound quality.

The cover and any extra items are in perfect condition.

Records advertised as sealed or un-played should be mint.

 

EXCELLENT:

 

The record shows some signs of having been played,

but there is very little lessening in sound quality.

The vinyl may have some hairline surface scuffs which will be only slightly visible.

The cover and packaging might have minor wear and/or creasing.

 

VERY GOOD:

 

The record has obviously been played many times,

but displays no major deterioration in sound quality,

despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch.

Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items,

is acceptable.

 

GOOD:

 

The record has been played so much

that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated.

perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches.

The cover suffers from folding, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

UK Orders - Please add 1.25 UKP for each additional LP purchased (doubles count as 2)

 

International Orders - Please add 2.5 UKP for each additional LP purchased (doubles count as 2). I prefer to send Internationsal orders 'international signed for' to ensure that all orders arrive at their destination safely.

5 LP's Won = Only 4.50 Shipping per LP (22.50)

 

This calculation does not apply to orders over 2kg in weight (5 lp's is usually just under 2kg). Orders over 2kg in weight may have to be split into 2 or more packages to ensure shipping is as cost effective as possible.

 

For multiple purchases , PLEASE WAIT for me to send you a combined postage invoice at the end of the auction day BEFORE making payment otherwise you will end up paying me more postage than is required as postage discounts have to be manually applied.
