Cornelius Cardew (7 May 1936 – 13 December 1981)

Founder (with Howard Skempton and Michael Parsons) of the Scratch Orchestra

Cardew served as an assistant to Karlheinz Stockhausen from 1958 to 1960

In 1966, Cardew joined the free improvisation group AMM

Cardew died the victim of a hit-and-run car accident near his London home

The driver was never found

On "Four Principles" Cardew proposes a series of compositions
based on the revolutionary songs of different countries
