A hugely successful and widely acclaimed solo artist who for many has come to epitomise the laid-back Californian singer-songwriter genre, Jackson Brownes talents as a composer, poet, performer and musician. This live radio broadcast, from the RCA Studios in New York, took place just eight months after the albums release. He is accompanied only by the supremely talented David Lindley, a founder member of the esoteric Los Angeles group Kaleidoscope, who uniquely fused Middle-Eastern and rock influences. Lindley is a hugely accomplished player of a plethora of stringed instruments, including banjo, all varieties of guitars, fiddle and mandolin. The duo continued to collaborate across the years and appeared together on Jacksons 4th live album, Love Is Strange in 2010. Although not released until October the following year, this concert features five numbers that subsequently appeared on the For Everyman album. Take It Easy is one of Brownes most recognised songs, co-written with Glenn Frey, it was a big single for his Eagles, reaching number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. Other highlights include the poignant title track, plus Our Lady of the Well, The Times Youve Come and the political Redneck Friend. In addition to his own songs, Browne opens with an exquisite take on the traditional Come All Ye Fair and Tender Ladies and performs two numbers drawn from John David Southers 1972 eponymous debut, Jesus in 3/4 Time and Out To Sea. All things considered, this is a remarkably assured early recording from an artist who would go on to receive massive worldwide recognition across a career now spanning close to 50 years.
