9 great Original Cast Recordings from the golden age of the Broadway musical, with some of the classic shows from that time, with composers like Rodgers & Hammerstein, Jerry Herman, Lerner & Loewe, Charles Strouse & Lee Adams, Betty Comden, Adolph Green and Jule Styne and Sheldon Harnick, among others.  As a bonus, I have Percy Faith's recording of music from CAMELOT in NM condition which I am throwing in as a bonus!  All 11 records for just $35 and free shipping!

1) BELLS ARE RINGING:  RARE SEALED STEREO copy of the OCR (Columbia Masterworks, OS 2006).  This is not a later pressing from Columbia's "Collector's Series"-this is from the press run from when this version came out in 1960 to plug the musical's translation to the screen.  As mentioned, the shrink wrap is still sealed with a piece about the size of Judy Holliday's face missing right over her face, so I have no way to check if the label is "6-eye" or "2-eye," but my money would be on the former.

2) MY FAIR LADY (1959 STEREO recording in London with the original cast):  This is an early pressing (Columbia Masterworks, OS 2015, STEREO, "6-eye," matrices 1E/1CC) and I have graded it at VG+/EX for some wear but only in spots;  the jacket is NM and in beautiful condition;  I have provided a vintage inner sleeve from the time.

3) BYE BYE BIRDIE (1963 pressing with the earlier "OS" prefix-not the later "KOS")
:
This is the original issue of the album with the "OS" catalog prefix instead of the later "KOS" (Columbia Masterworks, OS 2025, STEREO, "walking eye," black "360 sound," matrices 1AJ/1BJ).  The record is in very nice condition with just a bit of surface noise but no skips;  the jacket has the following:  the top edge has chipping, the spine has some very minor chipping, the bottom edge has major wear at the spine, the back cover has some browning at the bottom;  the inner sleeve is original.

4) NEW FACES OF 1952:  Leonard Sillman's New Faces Of 1952 (RCA Victor "Green Label" series, LOC 1008) was the official release of the Broadway revue New Faces of 1952.  It excluded some material as not all songs could fit on the record (the song cut was "Time For Tea," which was restored when the album was reissued on CD in the 1990's).   The record is in remarkable shape for 62 years of age-there is some surface noise but the record is clean with no skips;  the jacket has some very minor wear and there are no splits, tears or chipping;  I have provided a new inner sleeve.

5) MAME:  Jerry Herman's adaptation of the play by Jerome Lawrence & Robert E. Lee, starring Angela Lansbury, Bea Arthur & Willard Waterman (Columbia Masterworks, KOS 3000, STEREO, "walking eye," matrices 1F/2G;  record and jacket in NM condition (jacket still in shrink wrap with Knapp's price sticker for $5.75 still affixed);  "baggie" inner sleeve.

6) SOUTH PACIFIC:  Classic OCR of the Pulitzer Prize winning musical by Rodgers & Hammerstein from the James Michener book (which also won the Pulitzer), starring Mary Martin & Ezio Pinza.  This features the original album cover art and the green Masterworks label (Columbia, ML 4180, MONO, matrices 3F/3F;  record is in NM condition;  jacket is EX, with a little bit of a split on the bottom edge near the mouth of the jacket;  there was no inner sleeve so I have provided one).

7) GEORGE M!:  Recording of the 1968 musical based on the life of legendary Broadway personality George M. Cohan, starring Joel Gray & Bernadette Peters and featuring scads of Cohan songs throughout (Columbia Masterworks, KOS 3200, "walking eye," matrices 1H/1H;  record and jacket NM condition).

8) DO I HEAR A WALTZ?:  Collaboration between Richard Rodgers and Stephen Sondheim with book by Arthur Laurents and featuring Elizabeth Allen and Sergio Franchi (Columbia Masterworks, KOS 2770, STEREO, "walking eye," matrices 1D/1G;  both record and jacket are NM condition with original inner sleeve and booklet).

9) THE SOUND OF MUSIC:  Perhaps the best loved Broadway musical of its time, this is the final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein before the latter's death nine months later in 1961, with the original cast of Mary Martin, Theodore Bikel and Kurt Kasznar (Columbia Masterworks, KOS 2020, STEREO, "6-eye," matrices 1C/1AD;  both record and gatefold jacket are in NM condition;  original "baggie" inner sleeve).

10) CAMELOT:  The Lerner & Loewe show that made Richard Burton a musical star, propelled Julie Andrews into Broadway superstardom and gave us one of the great pop vocalists of the 1960's with Robert Goulet (including his theme song "If Ever I Would Leave You"), this is one gorgeous copy of this extremely popular show recording (Columbia Masterworks, KOS 2031, STEREO, "walking eye," matrices 1K/1EC;  record and gatefold jacket NM condition (blue insert still attached);  original inner sleeve included.

***BONUS RECORD*** PERCY FAITH & HIS ORCHESTRA-MUSIC FROM CAMELOT
:  Very nice instrumental recording by one of Columbia Record's house conductors of music from the most popular show of its time, including such favorites as "If Ever I Would Leave You," "Follow Me," "How to Handle a Woman," "I Loved You Once in Silence" and the title tune (Columbia, CS 8370, STEREO, "6-eye," matrices 1D/1F;  record in NM condition;  jacket has a little edgewear on the top and bottom;  original "baggie" inner sleeve).

All reasonable offers will be considered-our prices are not written in stone.

All of our records are "visually graded" and we also double check the sound and clean them when we write our descriptions. If an album is still sealed when we offer it here on ebay, we let it remain sealed in order for the buyer to have the opportunity to open it when they receive it.  Only albums that are still sealed will be listed as M/M-if the record is still sealed in a sealable inner sleeve but the shrink-wrap is open or gone, the record will be listed as M/NM+-.
