About the artist:

Teddy Huffam got his start in music by playing piano from 1960-1968 with the Stars of Virginia. He left to start RUC Records with Herb Ruckles, recording Gospel choirs for several years. When he realized he couldn't take those choirs on tour, he decided to start a group of his own. The Gems started in September 1971 and released their first album in 1972. Their many accolades included a 1981 Dove Award, for Traditional Gospel Album of the Year.

In 1982, Huffam retired from Gospel music. It was a key friendship he had made during his years in Gospel music, becoming a lifelong friend with the Kingsmen's Eldridge Fox, that would bring him back; Eldridge Fox and Mickey Gamble persuaded Huffam to return to the studio and stage in 1987. He recorded two more albums and one video before his death in 1991.

 

This 1982 LP is on the "Skylite" record label.
