My Grading System - Records are tested visually and aurally. I grade conservatively. Appearance can be deceiving so I focus on how the disc sounds.
Exc: Very shiny, near new looking, perhaps a few inaudible scuffs and scratches. Almost no lessening of sound quality.
Exc - Minus: Still shiny, few light scuffs and scratches. Slight surface noise but only very little lessening in sound quality.
VG+: Scuffs and general use have dulled the finish somewhat. Wear is moderate but playing is generally free from distortion. Surface noise not overly pronounced.
VG: Moderate, even wear throughout, but still very playable. Surface noise and scratches audible but not intrusive.
