This listing is for a rare factory sealed copy of the Paul Clark - "Songs From The Savior Volume Two" LP.

Recorded in August of 1972, this album was a follow-up to Vol 1 in style. The first song "You Must Be Born Again" opens the door for a collection of songs which instruct and challenge man on his relationship with GOD. This album also contains "Let Us Climb The Hill Together", one of Paul's famous wedding songs.

Album Review:

Volume II picked up on the rural theme with a heavier approach that sounds more like a full band, including folk-rock moves that are reminiscent of Van Morrison and Neil Young. The new rock direction is evident right from the start with the opening 'You Must Be Born Again' and 'Don't Judge Your Brother By His Face', the latter sounding like a lost Niel Young track. Similar realms for 'Jesus Is The Great Shepherd' which features some nice echoed electric guitar leads. Steel guitar brings country edges to 'Take All Of Me' and 'Song Of Joshua'. A dash of acid guitar and reverse edit psychedelia is a pleasant surprise on 'Behold The Messiah'. The ballads sparkle with rich string orchestration and better production, including 'One With You', 'Perfectly Complete', 'Lord I'm Coming In' and the wedding standard 'Let Us Climb The Hill Together' where Paul's wife Sharon joins on backing vocals. Bill Speer appears on piano and organ. The original Sonrise Mercantile release comes in an attractive foldout cover with a die-cut window revealing the eyes of Jesus. Also includes an insert with commentary on each song. - Ken Scott - The Archivist

Artist profile:

Paul Clark is a musician who was involved in the Jesus music movement and early contemporary Christian music industry. He was born in Kansas City and recorded his first album in 1971, Songs from the Saviour Vol 1. Its songs became one of the first signs of the growing "Jesus Movement" of the early 70s.

He went on to record further albums including Songs From The Savior - Volume Two, Come Into His Presence and Good To Be Home with Paul Clark and Friends (including Phil Keaggy, Jay Truax, John Mehler, Bill speer, Mike Burhart, and more), then launched the well received, award-winning 1977 album Hand to the Plow. In 1978 he followed up with Change in the Wind and in 1980 with Aim for the Heart. These three albums had some jazz influences and were well-produced in the context of other Christian music of the time. Aim for the Heart featured Abraham Laboriel on bass along with Harlan Rogers, Hadley Hockensmith and Bill Maxwell and was certainly jazz influenced. Those four went on to become members of Koinonia jazz band from 1982 till about 1990.

Clark is recognized as one of the founding fathers of the Jesus Movement and the contemporary Christian music industry. During his 13-year association with Word Records in the 1970s and 1980s, Clark's songwriting, record producing and performances placed him in the forefront along with artists like Phil Keaggy, 2nd Chapter of Acts, Love Song, Larry Norman, Andraé Crouch, Honeytree, Keith Green, Randy Stonehill, Barry McGuire, and many notable others.

Clark's discography consists of 19 releases as of 2016.

This copy is on the rare Sonrise Mercantile Company/Creative Sound label.
